mentally preparing for the funeral of a 24 year old cousin, lost to the monster that is heroin. The family is utterly devastated ...

Thanks everyone. I'm still struggling with facing this reality.
-
I'm so very sorry for your loss! If you need ANYTHING, and I mean it, snag me! *hugz to you*
-
Hang in there, *huggles and hands over ice cream gallon* I'm praying for you and your family on my end.
-
And the winner for the TSTL contest for the day: my employer at the track, "Leave the radio with the headset for someone who needs it." Uhm, okay. Will that person be taking down all of the race finishes, under pressure, with seven people screaming at them, 20 cars without mufflers warming up and roughly 125 generators running in the background? Or answering protests? Or directing the safety crews? Yes? Then WTF do you need me for?

TSTL indeed! My blunt object recommendation of the day is the... SLEDGEHAMMER. Now go knock yourself out.
-
The "frying pan of common sense" tm required to cure this. If you need to borrow it, that can be easily arranged somehow.
-
I have a sledgehammer. I know how to use it. I didn't need it after I pointed out that everyone who had "issues" with line ups, protests, etc. would be directed to the author of the email.

stress must be relenting. Aine has been whispering in my ear again!

-
Good. I've been missing her (and others).
-
WIN!
-
Some people might like my voices, lol, JayDee! I've missed Connor. Hopefully, I get to where I can put my fingers on the keys and transcribe what Aine is whispering.
-
If all goes well, I shall have a large chunk of time on Monday to spend *gasp* writing.

YAAAAAY. It's a fun activity for all the family.
-
Woot! Free time rules!
-
Exceeleeehnt.... (*tents fingers*)

Dr. Sister rocked the Cancer Society this weekend! Kiddo owned the stage at Dance Competition. TeenBoy went up against some of the best b-ballers in the nation, and, well, only won one game, but he managed to be the team's high scorer! Good weekend all around after the funeral! Go Team PW!

Ysy indeed for Team PW
-
awesome!
-
Woot! Congratulations!

had forgotten how poignant military funerals are ... my granddad, a bronze star veteran, was greeted at the cemetery by a full honor guard. It was even more touching when the lead officer stepped forward to inform the family that he had known my granddad from the railroad so long ago. There is some so very moving and touching at the sound of taps being played while the flag is so ceremoniously and reverently folded ...

So very true *snuggles*
-
He absolutely deserved the honors, being a terrific man. I hope the honors help make for even better thoughts and memories.
-
My sincerest condolences.
-
taking a hopefully short sabbatical from fictional things. Work crazy busy. Granddad passed away. Kids' activities heating up. Racing season starting. Better busy than bored, right? Dammit, right?

PW, my deepest condolences, and much love to you and the family.
-
My sympathies, PW! I hope things get better for you, and soon!
-
Deepest condolences to you and yours. Take care of yourself, we'll still be here...when things ease up for ya!
-
Why in the hell does everyone think what I do is so damn easy? Two freakin' hours editing someone's work and I'm nowhere near done. This is not going to work. Head desk, repeat.

These ones I can actually reach, eyeballs a wooden spoon. Small light at the far end of the tunnel, former employee of mine is coming back as of June! So, I might yet get a vacation, lololol. Ouch. I think I hurt myself laughing again.
-
Woot! Congratulations! At least keep the hope alive!
-
I need to get you a desk pillow. Anyway, I'm glad there's light and it's not a train.
-
As of Monday, I will be a sole proprietor.

I was mostly upset about the bit stating my organs became the commercial property of Sanrio. Watch out for the new Hello Kidney! line.

Flunkie sent off with work and coffee. Potential flunkie en route to test. Fingers crossed! I'm not sure I want to see any of the flunkies' bare bottoms. Scary!
-
If they cna handle coffee the rest will follow

figures ... I finally get a job interview in my current field, and the "partner" decides she needs a break and is going to turn over most of the work to me. Guess I'm still self-employed.

That's good to hear! I'm doing the same thing as FS, though. Holding back the champagne until we get confirmation!
-
::huggles and waiting with eager anticipation::

*Fingers crossed*

grrrrrrrrrrrrr ... gonna hurt someone.

Ooh! Tie the person to a chair, lock his or her head in a brace, and I'll give you hours of certain TV shows you can force upon this person. (You can probably guess which shows I have in mind; reality shows would be too cruel even for you!)
-
I recommend the tweezers.
-
The end result has been that I'll be taking more responsibility for the work, and the business partner (aka torture victim) will be stepping back and taking a break, which should also be a break on my nerves.

#1Son still home sick. Watching Scooby Doo. I overhear from my office, "That's ludicrous and ungrammatical!" I lost it, laughing out loud. "Ludicrous and ungrammatical applies to so much of what I've read in my clean up adventures!
-
I can only wish to have a son like that one day!
-
And when Scooby heard him say that he responded, "Ruh roh..."?
Was it the classic version or even Mystery Inc.? The live-action movies would only make the poor kid even sicker.
Now, if you could just get a ghost or monster who scares writers into cleaning up their own stories...

Aww, shucks! I hope you're being treated like a princess today. (And I don't mean locked up in a dungeon by a witch or eaten by a dragon, etc.)
-
Hope the chocolates are yummy...
-
Likewise!

:head desk: Repeat as necessary. Gave my personal cell to one driver. ONE to clear something up for him during a family emergency. He's shared it. A lot. :head desk:
-
What a dock! You should be butting his head instead of your innocent desk - better yet, let his head and the desk play that game together.
Want a list of really bad websites to post his number on, to return the favor?
-
Oohh, I like the way you think, FS!
-
LOL -- that is such a good idea. In all honesty, I think he, given his experience with "nice" me is trying to be helpful to some of his compatriots, some of whom are about to meet "NOT at all nice me." Send me a list of those websites though. Just in case. Just in case!

Aren't we all dying? Oh, wait, not that kind of dying.

Ah, but in that race, I could beat you!

Hooray!!! Congratulations, Witch!
-
Congratulations! No hexing the staff, though.
-
I'm being a little slow on the uptake apparently... Congrats on the new job, Witch.
-
job interview on Monday! Maybe I'm not unemployable after all. Ego boost!

Good luck and knock 'em dead!
-
Let's see: you're conscientious, good with (important!) details, plus you don't let anyone get away with BS. That makes you perfect for keeping the cashiers and those types in line.
I'd hire you.
-
Good luck PW.
-
for those who can stomach the evil that is Walmart, they have a Compaq Presario notebook on sale for $298 in stores. Not high end stuff, but functional!

concussion boy failed the Impact test again.

That doesn't sound like a painless test.
-
Oh, noes... :::huggles PW::

aw man

concussion boy home from school again. Fluorescent lights make the headache worse. If they'd only let him wear sunglasses in class, he could cope. UGH. Stupid concussion. Stupid school.
