  1. Although semi raw, I posted Chapter 14 of Driven Heart. I am having to learn a new writing program since the old version is no longer compatible with Windows 7 even using the compatibility wizard. AS of yesterday, grammar and other tool checkers flat stopped working. I apologize for any awkward sentences or run ons that might be found in the text for the moment. Once I get a better handle on the new program, I will be sure to revise and replace the Chapter 14 section. Thanks for everyone's patience.

  2. kurahieiritr came about because I am an on again and off again internet user. My hardcore recluse moods are to blame I suppose. I can go two or three years off line, so I have lost several screen names because I was not paying some internet carrier for service.

When I whipped up this screen name, I was into watching Yu Yu Hakusho. Kura as in Kurama the demonic fox, Hiei being the fire demon, and I am a writer of course. I can have a very demonic temper cause I am Irish/Viking/Amerindian with genuine red hair that truly does reflect my inner passion. So subtle spinning of the demonic tone from Yu Yu Hakusho seemed appropriate.

In the main archives here and at FFnet, I added JIO which are my full name initials for Josie I. Oden. Please do not make Josie & Pussycats cartoon cracks about my first name. I've been hearing the oh so very tired list of wise cracks since the 1970's. I have used this screen name, or azdesertlupine for several years and can't recall the majority of names I have abandoned since the early 90's. :) azdesertlupine is Arizona Desert Lupine, an endangered subspecies of the equally endangered Kincaid Lupine class of wild flowers found in the Saguaro National Monument West and the Ironwood National Monuments around Tucson Arizona. It was the first 3d beaded floral sculpture I ever designed.

  3. My desktop changes with whatever specific fanfiction I am writing at the moment. For now I am using an Initial D fusion of two different Manga book covers that I merged through Paint to create a semi-romanticized feeling desktop background to inspire my plot bunnies at all times. I always hide my desktop icons and such so my screen is the picture alone. I uploaded the picture since I do not know how to do the whole screenshot deal at this time. post-25251-0-95461000-1372463117_thumb.jpg

  4. Wow, there are so many diverse reasons for ever shifting sigs. Mine is simply my fave joke about my own fanatical writing addiction. I blame my plot bunnies as being whip cracking fiends due to my frequent writing sprees.

Then I list the various places where my works of writing and/or artwork can be found. Since I do frequent updates and such on those sites, they got added to the sig for everyone's convenience when they bother to read the link info. :)

A: I for one saw a guy holding some woman's trash can when I read it. It is very amusing to see correctly spelled typos. I am notorious for producing such typos that are spelled correctly. :) I kind of have to rub the back of my head and pretend not to *facepalm* as the anime fans tend to say. One of these days I should dig out some of my correctly spelled and completely wrong word used typos to share

Title: Driven Heart; Prequel to A Rivalry Revealed Series

Summary: Determined to put his gangster past behind him, Keisuke joined the Red Suns with a dream of becoming a professional race car driver. Yet everything Keisuke has planned for his future starts collapsing when Ryosuke sets his sites on conquering the Akina Speed Stars where Keisuke faces an unforgettable opponent.

Feedback: I adore receiving concrete feedback that lets me know specific repairable story problems. I interact with reviewers in my review reply thread for all my series posted in the Initial D archive, or in PM when reviewers prefer to contact me in that way. I am doing revisions on the rest of the series and replacing chapters because of previous reviews I have received. I have put the URL to the review replies and chapter updates at the bottom.

  7. Wow! I've been here for a couple months now, and completely missed this thread until it finally popped up in new content. Waves welcome to the newest forum peeps. I see a number of Yaoi fans giving shouts. Hip Hip Hoozah to you all. Reading or writing about really hot men getting nasty with other sexy men truly is one of life's greatest pastimes.

Suppose I should give a quick rundown on myself to stay on topic. I am Kurahieiritr. I am moving all of my fan fiction to AFF.net from FFnet because I got tired of inappropriate behaviors from the underage sector that haunts FF.net. I have the same screen name on both sites.

I got hooked on anime thanks to the multitude of teenagers hanging around my home daily over many years. With all the kids entering the real world of late, I have extra time on my hands to focus on writing. During an average week I will write, revise, and post 3 chapters to one of the two ongoing stories I have posted at AFF.net.

I have actual educational training and workforce experience in the Print Media/Publishing industry. (Psychology/sociology was my college minor to diversify in the work force) I was an editor/writer for a decade before a catastrophic stroke put me temporarily out of business. After recovering my wits and bodily functions, I went right back into writing as therapeutic rehab. I am focusing on anime fandoms for retraining myself in the necessary techniques.

I leave toned down concrit reviews at the end of any story I read in hopes of helping other writers who say they wish to improve their own work. I know that few writers can handle a full blown editor's line by line breakdown, so I stay out of trouble by keeping my reviews limited to a "please use grammar/spell check features" type comments in the majority of cases. I am always happy when I come across other writers who have a thicker skin which allows me to swap beta services.

  8. I am finally back to working on both temporary hiatus stories in the Rivalry Series for Initial D. Added a new chapter to the Prequel story, "Driven Heart" this afternoon. I am going to focus on getting that novel out of the way for the next few days. I apologize to readers of the 4th novel, "As the Smoke Clears" who want to see new chapters ASAP. I will get it completed after I find the dratted notes I have misplaced. I had a very specific setting in mind and I can't recall the specifics without my little notebook. Never fear, I will find and get Smoke caught up soon. I may even have a 5th novel to write the way the stories keep writing themselves one after another. However, I will return to my write the novel before putting it up as completed habit. Thanks so much to all the people who have read and reviewed my stories to date. I genuinely appreciate every drop of concrit feed back I have received.

  9. I personally tend to write somewhere between 1,100 words to 3,000 words per chapter. But for reading, I like a variety but if it's going to end up being a small book per chapter (say between 9,000 words and over) I tend not to read it unless it's a really good story and one that I want to read. And It has to move on, be good.

Or be a one shot. One of the two.

Some of my chapters hit the 5000 word range, about 11 pages. The people who like to read my chapters hate it if I write 3000, or 6 and a half pages or shorter, so I get yelled at. Then again, I think it all comes down to the specific writing style. My writing appeals to people who like character driven prose. A chapter will always reflect the values of the character. That will take a few extra sentences to make realistic. An introvert will have different type of chapter feel than an extrovert point of view will reflect. Most people do not write that way, so fewer words work for them. However, if I forget to ground the character inside every word, I am in huge trouble. ROFl.

  10. Emotional OOC-ness due to situation/circumstance is probably the only OOC I tolerate well. Though I have enough of an off-kilter sense of humor that OOC-ness done as a mockery can be acceptable, too.

And you make a good point about the OCs.... Too many fan fictions are entirely about OCs when there should be much more canon characters instead.

Exactly! AU often turns into an OC becoming a God that overshadows the genuine Cannon characters, if the cannons show up in more than 5 paragraphs in most AU stories I have read. I find that there are very few good Au stories in the Animes I like to read such as Initial D, and a plethora of the OC Mary Sue/Gray Stu God Figure OC characters that are overwhelmingly nauseating to read. I am so sick of the OC love interests of Cannon Initial D racers who beat the Project D team easily crap. The bulk are Americans in big block classic muscle cars. Snorts in disgust.

I just got into Bleach reading, so I have to see whether the AU's there will be half as disgusting and puke worthy as they are in Initial D, YuYu Hakusho, Gundam Wing, or DBZ. The best AU I ever read was a Yu Yu Hakusho fic that kept the cannon characters as the story focus. Sadly, as I said, they are few and far between.

I have also read a few good AU stories with the OOC acting Cannon variety mockery angle. those are truly very funny, and I enjoy them well enough. My favorite came from DBZ. Vegeta developed a very strong phobia in it and nobody could break him of it. He was terrified of heights in that crack fic. Bulma made a big swimming pool of jello which then added to Vegeta's fear because he could not swim to the surface after Goku tossed him off the building into the goo. hahahah.

  11. I did the redirect as a temporary measure because of adult followers who like my writing at FFnet. The redirection is a generic variety. I have every intention of taking the redirect info down soon. I figure a couple months is enough time for most of my adult followers to find the stories on this site. My intention was short term redirection, not a permanent go to AFFnet tag.

  12. I have 3 complete, 1st revisions done, and posted with 2 partially written and semi revised Initial D - Keisuke x Takumi novels for which I am seeking a second opinion. I would like to receive help specifically for imperfect bilingual dialogue. It has been brought to my attention that there are multiple forms of words like "What" and "Why" in Japanese that change with sentence context. The "Learn Japanese" book I have relied upon to create Bilingual dialogue is sorely lacking, as I have been instructed within several reviews at this site and FF net.

Seeking a beta with a sharp eye for minor spelling glitches such as "Form" versus "From" because I have mild dyslexia problems beyond bilingual dialogue corrections. I have an unusual Character P.O.V. heavy writing style, so wish to work with someone flexible to retain the syntax of each chapter. As a retired editor I can do the majority of my revisions, although, I do have my moments of hit and miss. I desire to work with someone who is not afraid to say something is wrong with a specific portion of a chapter, and will give me suggestions for correcting any accidentally missed problem spots. I am open to returning the favor of returned editing services in exchange for any help received. I am a dedicated writer, so tend to post 2 novels per year.

I write angst with romance/homoerotic themes. I am dealing in controversial topics such as stalkers, slavery compounds, and rape which are the result of having become somewhat famous. My stories include graphic M/M sex, violence, and other elements that some have difficulty reading. Rape scenes are in flashbacks. I have a 5th novel in the planning stages, so hope to find a committed individual with staying power. I have listed the stories I am seeking input for below in chronological order.

  13. I wonder if this is the same FF.Net idiot I blocked over a year ago for sending reviews to my Initial D stories starting with Alternate Tracks. The reviews were flames about how all White people should die because of how they treated Native Americans. It was Spanish and English combination, however I can't recall the original screen name, but this series of flames looks somewhat familiar in the bitch/punta repetitions. I blocked the person, then yanked all my stories at FF.net, and started searching for a new haven which I have found here. Sadly, I've never seen FF.net doing anything about this type of problem. Therefore, I only post 1 chapter to each story with heavy warnings/tags and redirection to my spot here on AFF.net to avoid this kind of messiness.

  14. I have completed All For Love story's uploading as of today. I added a new chapter 50 because of fanfiction reviews that complained about Bunta not weighing on on the subject of Takumi's abduction. It is shorter than most of the chapters I write, yet I hope it satisfies that ongoing grumble somewhat. I still need to revise the full story based upon prior review input, but do not have the energy or the mindset to do so correctly yet.

I will work upon adding new chapters to the two incomplete stories in the Rivalry series for a couple of weeks before I begin fine tooth combing, and replacing chapters. Sorry for the hold up on the Smoke and Driven stories that some have been forced to put up with while I got the other novels loaded.

  15. Have finished putting all chapters through 30 up in the All For Love Story. It is the old version at the moment so will have incongruities due to my having returned a couple of chapters to Alternate Tracks that I removed before posting at Fanfiction net. I will get those revised as I get the chance. I hope to have a complete tag on All For love by middle of next week. It will depend on whether or not I have any more family emergencies.

  16. Storyline development is fine, but something as long as my senior thesis isn't something I'm going to read unless it's in print. Babisko asked for opinions, I gave mine as a reader. Yours may differ.

We're talking about reading online - that's my opinion.

I like long and short chapters both as a reader and as a writer. IF the chapter is well written I can read 20 pages without a problem. . . . IF . . . it is poorly written, I can't stomach more than 1 page before I have to leave and look for something else. So long as the plot is advancing and the details support the development, I will stick with any number of pages. My problem with most really short chapters is the lack of details for my imagination to work correctly in the max enjoyment category. Leaving characters in a blank space is one thing I have seen many fan fiction writers do over the last few years. I would rather read an extra page that places them in a grounded area than founder as I do with those types of chapters.

  17. So I wasn't doing something dumb when I got it from the

If you mean from the add chapter that you have within the story, yes, the recaptcha will show. When adding from your control panel, it won't.

Whew, I thought I must have done something dumb when I was adding the next chapters while in the story. Was worried for a moment. Thanks for the clarification.

  18. Cool that there is the other ways to add to the text box. I had a lot of problems so I took another author's advice and it worked out fairly well for me. :) Hope I am not causing problems by trying to be helpful. Hm, I always got the captcha deal when I tried to load from the story itself. Must have had something strange going with the settings I used when I tried to load additional chapters from the actual story add chapter portion in the main story itself. Could that be because of how I set up each story I have been posting? I'm not ruling out my own possible klutziness in setting up the stories in a strange manner that causes the captcha to show up when I post outside of the author panel specifically.

  19. On the other hand, too much free reign to a story can make things evolve out of proportion. I started a Final Fantasy VII fic as a gift for a friend on another site, and all she asked of me was to start out with "It was a rainy night in Midgar" and to use a specific pairing. Well, in relatively short order it turned into a series (or should I say three?) and the pairing turned into a threesome. Granted, she gave her permission or I wouldn't have let it get that far, but this is the kind of thing that happens to me. *shakes head* The third in the series was inspired by a Christmas parody that came into my head and was mentioned in the first, right at the beginning.

my whip cracking finds known as plot bunnies have turned a stable relationship into a threesome recently so I can relate to the too much free reign problem. As a rule I try to do the what if to get the bunnies jabbering, then do a 1 page overview as an outline process to plan for some of the plotting element to stay on track. Beyond that, it depends on how well I understand the character motives and can determine which characters will coerce actions and tick off the cannons in my fan fiction writing. Staying within a cannon universe can be very tough, and few fan fiction writers bother I have found. However, I stay very cannon in universe, and try to make the characters remain true to the spirit of the original creator whenever possible. Writing fan fiction therefore is a hard core discipline for me so I enjoy the coerced exercise of being behind the cannon scenes at any given point in my fan fiction hobby.

Originals get a full snowflake treatment to give me enough fact to keep characters in mind. I design the main aspects of the world building part so I can maintain consistency. Otherwise, I let the characters do the talking instead of myself as a rule.

I noted a comment about not reading because of feeling depressed about not being as great a writer. Here's a way to turn that around. IF you admire a published writer's style, study it and learn how to improve your writing. Like Bronx and others are saying in this thread, learn from them and add those elements that are so amazing to your own writing. IF you don't study the genre you write, then you ignore a lot of important techniques that can be learned through practice. Granted, many fan fictions are totally written garbage, but even in fan fiction you will find a few genuine gems to learn new ways of spicing up your own writing. The way the great writers turn phrases is a genuine worthwhile technique to learn. It removes cliche from one's own writing also. So instead of comparing your writing against theirs, ask yourself what you can learn by reading a great story. Turn your depression on its head by refusing to put your stories against the published works of others. Focus on the benefits you can nab from the great writers and run with it until it becomes your own natural strength. Then you can go back and judge by the ones who taught you how to write that way.

  20. I noticed that this post was up. Another member turned me onto this trick for rapid uploading of my completed stories, so I figured I would pass it along to anyone else who reads this post. Hope it is not a violation of rules to share this info since it does make uploading so much easier without extra, unexpected mistakes. LAst thing I wish to do is annoy anyone.

    :hitthefan:

I was told about this shortcut that fixes the problems with formatting here on AFFnet that works like a charm. Upload the chapters to poste here in FF net's doc manager first. It accepts a lot of different writing program formats. All the writer has to do is use Author panel here at AFFnet and do a copy and paste of the text from the doc manager with the chapter in question shown by view edit mode at ffnet. By having AFFnet Author panel open and hitting the add chapter button for the story you want to add, anyone can switch between the two sites and do a rapid upload of a basically formatted chapter. The story has to be set up as a text style upload though. So long as the AFF net story is set up as text type, the chapter name heading and the pasting in of the actual chapter goes quickly.

FFnet doc manager copied text comes in handy to preserve formatting when you paste it into the add chapter for AFFNet. Not sure if it works when it comes to going the story view chapter type of additions, but it does work from Author's panel specifically. The other benefit is I don't have to add captcha to add each chapter to the story I am working on at any given moment. With Story view chapter addition you do have to add captcha every time, and I have horrid eye sight. This way I can continue adding chapters to competed fics I am moving, and have a lot less time required for revision of font styles etc. :behead:

The AFFnet site maintains the fonts and all the formatting I have found when I take the copied text and paste it into the chapter to add section of this site. Not sure if it works with every type of codes for internet, but it does work with my word processor and keeps my bold, italics, and other formatting in place. This trick also is a much faster process than having to do line by line editing to get the fic to look the way intended by the writer I've found.

Hope this shortcut helps other writers.
