Like with search, anything that could be used as part of an injection attack was stripped. I know it’s a bit of an annoyance, but for now please bear with the quirks as I work through the code to re-enable stuff without further risks. The big priority was to just to be able to safely come out of read-only mode.

I had a friend who tested negative for pregnancy into her 9th month. She was, fortunately, quite aware she was pregnant, and didn’t suspect demonic interference.

    No worries.
We have them separate basically so that the promotion of the story and chapter upload announcements don’t drown in the chat between the author and their readers, basically. You are even allowed to put a link to the Review and reply thread in an author’s note in the story, so users who don’t have a forum profile can also chat with you there.
The Review and reply threads are exactly what the name suggests, a place where you can interact with your readers and other users as freely as you wish. You can thank reviewers for their reviews, and/or chat with readers who want to know more about the story, or whatever, no limits. Except just, you know, no story content

There are many reasons people delete their stories online. In some cases, they no longer wish to be associated with a fandom, or decide that they prefer not to have their email address associated with an adult fiction website for reasons of employment. We’ve also had people remove stories and accounts because they are now being published and the publisher has requested they remove any online content.
Whatever the reasons, our policy is to respect the wishes of our members with respect to their own works.

I was able to delete a test story I created so I could make screenshots for the FAQs as I updated them. Earlier, that wasn’t working for me, but manta fixed it. We’re expecting to find a few things that need tweaking as we get back to business as usual, and of course we want to know if any member finds anything not working right.
(And yes, I have more FAQs to update—I need a willing victim to let me use a story to illustrate how to recommend a story and add to one’s currently reading list. I’m not able to recommend my own stories or add them to my currently reading list, and I don’t want to just grab someone else’s story without asking nicely first. I know my WillowDarkling will let me play with a story, though. I just have to wait for our time schedule to sync again.)

    Here’s a preview from Chapter 34.

‘Fuck my life again!’ I thought to myself.  I never completely stopped loving Stacy Cook even if I would never completely trust her ever again.  And I was beginning to think that Uncle Rick was okay even if he fucked up badly a few times around when I was conceived and born.  But, their current take on ‘civility’ left me beyond speechless.

I had to intervene, and rather dramatically seeing who I was to the pair of them biologically, to keep them from destroying each other’s lives along with my five siblings and me on my own front lawn.  I only asked them for civility.  Yet somehow, the two of them decided that while civility was nice, that fucking like rabbits was even better?  And Stacy Cook couldn’t possibly have forgotten how light a sleeper Paul was in the months since she last shagged Kopchek, could she?  And if she hadn’t started taking her “vitamin stork-killer” again, her last period ended fifteen days before Wednesday night.  My body remembered her menstrual cycles because I never caught an even break when she was on them.

I never put the 10 line thing in the FAQ because it only applies to the Challenges and Requests forum, since that’s where we’ve had the largest issue with people posting story content. On the rare occasions it has popped up in the Fan Fiction forum, I’ve just quietly edited the posts to comply to the ten lines rule, and left a post telling people that we don’t allow story content in the forum. Because we don’t allow story content in the forums. It’s first and foremost a copyright issue, and then as BronxWench pointed out, the forums are supposed to be a place for us to chat, bitch and moan, drum up support for writers and be a community.
The only reason I allowed it in the Promote a Story forum was to be nice because of the Read Only mode having been going on for so long. And as I said above, I will be rescinding that rule as soon as we’re back up and running.
And it doesn’t matter at all from where in the story those ten lines come from. Not at all.
As for me obviously not having read your original question properly this morning (I claim lack of morning caffeine and general unwellness) the Promote a Story forum is exactly the place to post all the details you want about your story.
There is a standard form to include in the first post in that forum, but in addition to that standard form, you can include whatever you want about the story, as long as it isn’t purely story content. So, go nuts, put in a chapter by chapter detailed description if you want to. That means something like the following:

”Chapter 4. Jack and Jill fight over who gets to carry the bucket up the hill, Jill has a mean right hook and Jack learns that getting falsies is a fucking pain in the ass, but at least it’s less expensive than the new glass eye he’s going to need.”
    But NOT the following:
”Chapter 4. [The actual story content describing the ridiculousness above].”
    Does that make sense?

I may be in need of my morning caffeine, but I’m not sure I get what you mean by “details”. If you mean something like a book cover blurb, which don’t contain any actual story content, then I think 10 to 15 lines of text should be ok, but then ONLY in the Promote a story forum (in the thread for your story) or the Great Wall.
But if you mean something that contains story content, then like BronxWench said, it’s restricted to 10 lines or less.
I only allowed the 35 lines of text for a preview in the Promote a Story forum because we’ve been in Read Only mode for so long, and I wanted to allow our writers a little bit of a leeway. But as soon as the Archives are back out of Read Only mode, that allowance will be rescinded and the posts containing story content in the Promote a Story forum will be cut down to the allowed 10 lines.

As long as you keep the details down to about 10 lines or less, I think you’d be fine. What we don’t want is to have story content posting in the forum, because the forum isn’t the place for it. This is where we go as authors to ask questions, drum up support from fellow writers, share tips, commiserate, and bitch.

I want to give a big thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to get the site back online, and a huge thank you to all of my fans who have been so understanding and patient. I did send you an email directly. Check your Spam or Junk folders… unless it got caught up in Yahoo’s snit about getting too many emails from AFF. Apparently, Yahoo thinks we’re spamming.
I sent you the email in DM, with the links. Take that, Yahoo!

I’m adding this to my email text:
Password rules recap:  Between 12-18 letters and/or numbers long, case sensitive. NO punctuation, spaces, or special characters allowed. Do NOT use your old password, or let Google make a strong password full of forbidden characters for you.

For the password reset, are you ensuring there are at least TWELVE characters in the password?  When I first did it, I used 9, and then remembered I needed to use 12.  Once I did that, it worked just fine.  I had to have the validation/password reset resent to me like many of you, as I was one of the approximately 1% of users to where it didn’t work right.
