  1. Avira makes a free VPN app that is supposed to be decent (not perfect, but decent). https://www.top10vpn.com/reviews/avira-phantom-free/

  2. Totally understand… my cable installation bill was pretty high and was on library wifi for quite some time until I bit the bullet to pony up. (And now they filter the web for their patrons… which excludes AFF )

Is it too advertisey to put in an author’s note “If you like the story, consider checking out my published work” if no link or anything is included?

  4. I appreciate that, but I do have concerns about free VPNs. It’s the same thing that people have often said about social media platforms. If you’re not the customer paying for the product, you’re the product. Free VPNs are probably selling your data that they claim they’re keeping safe from being tracked.

As long as there’s no link in the story/chapter, or in your bio text, I wouldn’t have an issue with it. I have a line in my profile: “If you want to know more about the work I publish, you can visit my blog.” Of course, my blog has morphed into a freebie Wix website, but there you have it. I do have the link to that website in my profile as well. Adding a personal website is permitted by our terms of Service, as long as it’s not a link to your Amazon author’s page or the like.

  6. If you’re using public WIFI, I’d recommend also using one of those VPNs (plenty advertised on youtube videos).

  7. Glad to hear it worked out! (And make sure you have a VERY good malware/antivirus running when you're on those public access wifi networks!)

  8. I’d like to but they cost too much for me. Which is part of why I’m using public wifi in the first place, ironically.
