No.  That’s the short answer.  And now a more detailed answered for those of you who don’t have the attention span of a hyperactive 2 year old.

Firstly, let’s be clear what we mean by ‘paid commission’.  Basically, you want someone to pay you money to write a certain kind of story.  The commissioner might have the exact details in mind, or they might only supply you with the very basics and leave the rest up to you.  We don’t allow these.

There’s an extremely good reason why we don’t allow paid commission on fan fiction: It’s illegal!  Always has been, always will be.  You can’t profit from someone else’s copy-written works; that’s just simple legal facts 101.  Doing so could land you in a lot of trouble for doing it in the first place, and us for hosting it.

But what about commission on original works?  The answer is still no, I’m afraid.

There’s no law against that, it’s true, but it’s still against our Terms of Service.  Adult Fan Fiction isn’t an indie publishing house; it’s nothing more than a story archive.  Work written on paid commission becomes the property of the person for whom it was written.  Given that you accepted payment, our Terms of Service would prohibit your posting that work under your account.  Similarly, the person who commissioned the work could not post it, because it is not their work, any more than a novel I purchased for my Kindle would be mine for the purposes of posting it online.  We just don’t want to go down that particular road.  Everything here is free and we want to keep it that way.

There are other story archive sites out there that couldn’t care less about this, so if this is important to you then I’d recommend trying one of them (and crossing your fingers, if you’re offering commission on fan fiction).  But for us, it’s not allowed and will be shut down the moment we see anyone advertising paid commission services.

"Oh but the names are very similar," you say ignorantly.

Using that logic, stick insects look like sticks, therefore they must be sticks. Sometimes things can look like something else without actually being that thing.

So let me reiterate for the hard of understanding: AdultFanFiction is in no way, shape or form affiliated with FanFiction.net and it never will be.

Us: Yeah, the problem is that you’re using Internet Explorer!

IE truly is the handiwork of the devil. It’s not just this website that often has problems with things not working properly with IE, it’s a great, great many websites. Any web designer will tell how much trouble they have to go through to make websites IE compatible, and even then not always successfully. Not only is it bad, it frequently has gaping security flaws, as well.

So, you have a problem with something on this website not working properly, or doing something that it shouldn’t be doing? You’ve been given tech support here, without the problem being resolved? And you’re using IE? The solution is almost certainly the crappy browser! But you do have viable alternatives. Here’s a list of the most popular browsers:

Even if, for some unfathomable reason, you’re too in love with IE to stop using it entirely, it’s still always a good idea to get at least one other browser, because if a website doesn’t look or function properly in one browser, it might work properly in other. A backup in any situation is always a good thing. So go on, do yourself a huge favour and upgrade to a browser that doesn't suck.

If you have either of those accounts then I'd strongly recommend 'liking' us or 'following' us there, because we post announcements there concerning AFF. So, for example, if the website goes down for whatever reason then it gets posted to those two locations to let you know, as well as when it's back up. And don't worry, we don't post useless rubbish, only stuff that is related to AFF!

Please keep in mind, though, that if you have problems of some kind then there are forums right here to post that, not on Facebook or Twitter.

Any such stories will be deleted as they're found.

From the menu bar, select Tools, scroll down to Internet Options

Restart your computer

Internet Explorer needs you to restart the machine entirely, to finish clearing cookies, history, and etc. Simply closing and restarting the browser won't do it.

So here we go..

After you've logged in to paypal-

Click send money in the top menu

in the field asking for email address or mobile number input affforums@gmail.com

Next, type in the amount you wish to send

Next, choose what currency you're using (paypal autoconverts to USD)

Next, click the personal tab, in the type of payment box

select other

In the email to recipient area, in the subject of the mail, type your pen name, then Y or N. This will tell me whether or not to add you to the public listing of donators.

click send money.

Done!

First, check your browser settings. (Generally in Tools). Make sure that scripts are allowed.

If it's not the browser, the second part to check would be your firewall. Be sure it is allowing the action from your browser.

The other common deletion that is done on a near daily basis, is the deletion of "unfics". i.e. searches, lists, challenges, requests, and any OTHER type of document which does not belong in the archive. This is also done without notice or warning of any kind.

Finally, if one adds a story to the wrong subdomain entirely, it is deleted. What I mean by that, is if you add something, for example, that is original fiction, to the anime subdomain, it will be deleted. Or something that belongs in books, or any other subdomain OTHER than the one which it was added TO.

• You are underage
  
• You have been proven to be a troll
  
• You have been proven to be a plagiarist
  
• You are a proven spammer
  
• Invalid email address provided in the archive (this would happen AFTER the profile takeover, and a fair bit later at that)
  
• You have started a flame war and continued, despite email sent asking for you to stop.
  

The above are the most COMMON reasons for the user to be deleted.

Some less common reasons for a story to be hidden:

The user has provided an invalid email address for the archive. In this for instance, as we have no way to contact the user, the profile is taken over, with a date as to final deletion IF the user does not contact one of the mods with a working email address.

The user is posting a story to cause a flame war, or flame baiting with a story (which is an unfic as well). While the matter is being resolved, not only will the story be hidden, if it's of this nature, it will be deleted.

The user has AN chapters, self reviews, review demands. These are handled in a manner near identical to undisclaimed/incorrectly disclaimed stories.

First option - this would apply IF no rates or reviews have been made to the story

Be sure to navigate to the correct subdomain (using the tab menu from the portal, or the jump menu from the Author Panel), then upload the story to its proper home. Then, delete it from where it doesn't belong. This is by far the quickest and easiest option.

Second option - this would apply if rates and reviews have been added to the story and you really don't want to lose them

1. Re upload the story to the correct subdomain (zone).
   
2. Contact us in one the following ways so that the rates and reviews can be merged from the misplaced story to where it has been re uploaded to:
   
   1. 
      
   2. email to admin@adult-fanfiction.org, subject - Story Merge. Provide links to the old story, and then the newly uploaded one, so I know where to go to merge from one story to the other
      
   3. POST your request in the Misplaced Stories forum, detailing out the problem as indicated for mail requests.
      

Once we've been contacted to merge the misplaced story's rating and review data, you'll either recieve response via return mail, or you'll notice that the topic posted has been closed. Once a topic in that series of forums is closed, that means I've finished up the request. Once the story data has been merged from misplaced to new upload, the old story will be deleted. Please note, though, that the second option can take a while to complete, so you'll need to be patient.

General Category

Stories that would go in that category in a fandom, would be something that is a story that is set in the fandom's world, but without emphasis on a romantic pair. Say an action/adventure type story, for example, that's set in a fandom's universe.

AU - Alternate Universe Category

These would be stories that involve characters for a fandom, in an alternate universe. If a story is AU, regardless of pairing TYPE, THIS is where it belongs.

Pair Type Categories (het, slash/yaoi, femslash/yuri)

If your story contains many pairs, as is often the case, WHERE your story would go is determined by who the main pair is. Then, if there is a subcategory that lists that pairing, it would go to that subcategory.

Threesomes/Moresomes

These are stories that have 3 or more as the focal point rather than a pair. It can be a mix of sexes, or all one sex. The only requirement for selection would be 3 or more.

Crossovers

Say, for example, your story is a crossover between InuYasha and Harry Potter. It takes place in feudal Japan, the main pair are InuYasha characters. Your story would then go into the InuYasha archive's crossover section.

Round Robins

You know that toggle that lets you have other users add to your story, or not? That is how you'd do a round robin fic. So, they have their OWN categories.

Forum RegistrationFirst of all, so there is no misunderstanding, this is not truly an open forum. This is for the fiction portal users to be able to communicate with one another, get social, whatever they feel like doing.

Because it's not an open forum, registration is generally restricted to users who have a pre-existing archive login. There are some exceptions to this, but they are few and far between. Read this topic that covers the exceptions. For the most part, if a user registers for the forum, and I cannot find a link in archive for that user (if it's not already been provided), that user will be deleted from the forum database.

What is required

1. Fill in ALL parts of the registration form as asked for.

• Where it asks for birthdate, the information must be filled out. Otherwise, the user will be restricted to the guest accessible parts of the board, and be unable to use the rest of the board. Remember, this is an age restricted site after all.
• Where it asks for "AFF Author Page", that is where you provide the link to your fiction portal user page. i.e. http://members.adult-fanfiction.org/profile.php?no=50. The number at the end of the path changes, of course, to the one which is your actual user ID. The path I listed is simply an example.
• Where it asks for "pen name" please fill that out with your actual pen name in the archive.
• Where it asks for email, be sure to include a valid email address. Invalid email addresses cause your forum membership to be deleted without warning.

Frequently, I come across registrations where all that is listed is the pen name. Not a huge problem, as I will then search the archive for that user to verify whether or not they are one of our users. That also points out why that information must be accurate.

User Validation

This is a two step process. Self validation and administrator validation.

There are reasons for it being this way. Most importantly, to protect the site and its members from spam mail harvesters, bots, and spamming users which love to troll the internet and create memberships in forums (this happens all the time) so that they can post their linkage to their various sites (usually pill sites and the like). A spam mechanism doesn't register with a real email address, so it has no way to validate its membership.

First step is to click on your validation link you'll recieve after registration. Be sure to check your junk/spam folders for this mail, as many mail handlers filter this type of mail out as spam. Once you click that link, you then move the admin validation queue.

While in the admin validation queue, there are things that I check for, and this determines whether or not the user is approved to use the board the software.

• real email address - If a user registers with a fake mail, it bounces back to the forum email, and that user will not be validated. Be sure to use the email that you use in archive, as a non match from there to here will also cause the registration to be deleted from queue.
• Fiction portal (archive) link/pen name - I check to see whether or not the user has an actual archive page, if he/she does not, that user is not validated.

I have the validation queue set up to auto delete anyone who has not validated after 7 days. So, if one does not validate their initial registration, that user is deleted regardless by the forum itself.

Melrick or I check the admin queue at least once a day, depending upon my own work schedule, and other things that crop up in my offline life. If the user is not validated from the admin queue immediately, don't panic, I will get to you. The time I have scheduled for checking that queue is from 3pm to 5pm EST. So, please be patient, it will be gotten to. Having said all that, please allow up to 24 hours for the admin validation to occur.
