A bit, but I think we all would if we were reborn as cartoons and put into families that aren't ours.

Possibly, but unless you’re omniscient, I don’t think any of us can account for what everyone would do in a situation, no matter how bizarre.

Speaking of bizarre situations, you know how some writers of supernatural stories like to employ this trope?

Came Back Wrong – a character comes back from the dead … but something’s wrong with them.

Well, season 2 of American Gods provided a possible explanation.  Namely, the character of Mr. Ibis (the Egyptian god Thoth) equates death to any traumatic experience one might have, so, of course, the undead would act and behave differently than they did before from when they were alive.  What do you think?

Yeah, though I revamped the dark lord one, and I'm taking one of TBLs challenges

Is it different from the last one you showed me, where he’s misunderstood?

Which TBL are we talking about?

Actually, that's what I'm drawing from.

The idea of death giving someone a form of PTSD?

Well I was doing his Ben 10 one with Wednsday, but the more I try and write it, less invested I become, I think I'll try and switch things up with his boobmagedon one.

The one with gravity falls and the succubus.

I’ll have to check that one out.

BTW, I’ve been noticing something that’s been popping up in the fanfic community since Avengers: Endgame came out.

Spoilers in case no one has seen the movie yet, but there’s a scene in the final battle where Captain Marvel & Spider-Man meet for the first time. He’s trying to protect the Infinity Gauntlet and she’s just taken down Thanos’ warship. He introduces himself in a flustered manner, and she gives this amused response:

”Hey, Peter Parker. You got something for me?”

Now, we all know she’s referring to the Infinity Gauntlet, but taken out of context, that line comes off as a case of “Accidental Innuendo” on her part. For some, this comes off as a bit creepy since he’s a teenager & she’s at least 3x his age. Plus, as I said, he seemed a bit flustered when he introduced himself to her.

As such, fanfics have been popping up here & there promoting a relationship between the two of them.

Now, to be fair, both Carol & Peter did briefly date each other at one point in the comics, but in that world, they were much closer in age.

What do you all think?

Yeah, just now looked it up.

I’m a bit uncertain about the whole “Young Peter/Older Carol” thing, but what do you think?

I happen to think youth is wasted on the young and thus, dig inter-generational relationships.  I also happen to like ship teasing Spidey and Carol even with the age thing.  Mostly for the meta value of how they really want Captain Marvel to be their flagship but Spider-Man continues to outperform her.  I personally didn’t like that scene because it felt arrogant to me for Carol to be making demands of Spider-Man but I get why it was there.  More to the point, one of my unannounced projects was a Spider-Man harem fic and that sequence did the work for me.  Young Peter holding the reality bending gauntlet and facing with the amassed femininity of the entire MCU.  The prologue writes itself.

Plus, they DID in fact, date in the comics. And not only is she implied to be still into him every now and then (as are a lot of his old relationships), her protege ships them in canon.

She's ALSO implied to have similar feelings about jessica drew. Or jessica for her, i forget which. It's been a while.

You know, someone just so happened to write such a fiction only moments ago:

Also, Praetor, are you still working on that fic with Jessica Rabbit?

They did in the comics but it was more of a for fun thing.  Also that Peter was older (being a teen in the movies) and that Carol was younger (not being a carry over from the 90s).  Although they didn't ever deny Carol felt something foe Peter.  That said, they also have an entire sex scene in the porn parody, which I consider a companion piece to the MCU.

The Jessica Rabbit fic kind of.  That was always meant to be more of an anthology rather than a series and I rushed the first chapter to get it out by Memorial Day in the US.  So it was more of a holiday special.  I do plan on continuing it but it's not really a priority.  I get asmed to do Adventure Time stuff in DMs but have not even a passing familiarity with the IP.

Kind of like with Naruko and Tsunade in Pact?

Kind like that challenge I wrote a month or two ago?

I see.  Though that doesn’t mean that more than one person can’t write their own take on the concept.

I think i came across another one that looked promising. Lost it though, if i find it i'll let you know.

An MCU Peter/Carol fic or a “Peter accidentally rewrites reality with the Infinity Gauntlet and gets harem” fic?

Crops up a few times in my works.  Naruko and Tsunade kind of but that doesn’t really feel like an emotionally invested relationship and the age dynamic is highly fetishized.  Terrance and Rosetta play this up slightly in L&PD.  Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel has been relaunched like 12 times in the past decades with different writers and artists but they run short (because they suck) and Marvel is on the SJW band wagon so they’re churning out these girl power heroines by the bucket (but none of them are good) and all those comics are failing too.  Spider-Man routinely grosses the highest of all the comic book heroes, with Batman at a distant 2nd.  There were several very enterprising porn parodies by big name studios like Brazzers and Hustler and of course, they made parodies of the super hero films.  One of which was a Spider-Man parody that actually adapted that Kraven the Hunter arc where Spider-Woman became the new Madam Web (but with sex scenes).  In I think the Avengers parody, Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel pair the spares when the rest of the team goes on mission.  Yes, similar to the challenge you posted recently although Spider-Verse and the recent PS4 game were what prompted it.  Although I was thinking of shifting it around so instead Tony makes the snap (as in the film) and part of his reality mend was making a better life for Peter, who he still feels guilty about, but him being Tony, this also leads to a harem.  Mostly to keep it more in line with the film and make Parker the unintended and to a certain extent, unwilling (which I have been told is a key component of the harem genre).

Interesting.

Funny thing, I actually saw a video about a week or two from WhatCulture, and it actually listed “The Industry is Dying” as one of the things people always get wrong about comic books in general.  Here’s what they had to say about the matter:

“Almost every, single year, fans prophecize the death of the comic industry.  So the old argument goes, ‘Sails are declining every year and, sooner or later, Marvel and DC will just stop publishing books altogether.’  The actual reality, however, couldn’t be further from these claims with the industry arguably in one of its healthiest positions in years.  There are genuine issues, and it’s doubtful the industry will ever approach the numbers generated by the Speculator Boom of the 90s, but it’s by no means apocalyptic.  2019 has already gotten off to a great start.  Sales in trade paperbacks and collections rose as much as 5% this February according to Comicron.  And with the increasing profile of the MCU, it’s likely that more and more viewers will turn into readers as the years go on.  Of course, there are also those who seem to claim that the industry’s on its knees as a result of the Big 2’s burgeoning commitment to diversifying their stories.  That literally couldn’t be any further from the truth.”

Their words, not mine.  Still, given the rotating roster of creative teams around these diverse characters and how they can’t seem to satisfy the audiences they’re trying to appease, I’d say that there may be some truth to at least some of the claims.

So I’ve heard.  Though I’ve heard some good things about the current Spider-Man run, including some genuine character development.

I think the unwillingness in the harem genre comes from the idea that if he is willing, that makes him bad in the eyes of the audience, who would then view him as taking advantage of something he shouldn’t.  Plus, if the girls/women are eager to get down and dirty with him, as in putting it on strongly, then the classic “never stick your dick in crazy” feeling plays a part in it.

Still, I can see where you’re coming from with that prompt.  I take it it’s in the “work on later” category?
