Chapter 4:

Oh, yes, Clegane's a mad bastard, no doubt at all. But I do think this was the only way he could resolve his feelings, and make sure Brienne wanted this. Words aren't his friends, but he understands battle, and so does Brienne, even if it's not quite the foreplay for her it is for Clegane.

And even having seen this prior ro it being published, this chapter just works for me, so well. It fits them all, and I adore this trio.

Thank you so much, Bronx! :)

I’m so happy to see this, mostly because I know that it means things have calmed down for you now with Freyja, and everything is well, leaving you time to read, and to write, and all the good stuff life is made of. *hugs tightly*

And I’m happy you liked it, and thank you so much for reading through it for me, since I was afraid I had lost my way a bit. Ah, I seem to have picked it up again since… must have got hidden in the snow for a moment *g*

I thought, while writing this, if they could meet somewhere they understood each other, however slightly, it might be there. He thought so too. It’s not his fault he gets it all twisted like that. She’ll have to let it pass. I’m sure he’d kill me as soon as look at me for even thinking it, but I think it shows a teeny tiny bit of a romantic soul hidden away in there. I really do. ;)

Chapter 5:

Mm, delicious, this one. I like the bond between them, and I really like how Clegane is seeing his way through this. It's a dangerous dance, though, and I think they all know it. Whenever gods get involved, it ends badly, and the Lord of Light is worse than most.

But the moment between Clegane and Tormund, now that was sublime!

And then: "All at once, he admitted to himself that he loved her, and straight away, that he'd never loved her more than in that moment."

Right. I love this story.

Thank you! :)

Oh, I shouldn’t worry. I’m gonna be rather cryptic here, and say that the Gods, or the Lord of Light, or whatever... really isn’t interested in whatever they do with their spare time, as it were. Which means that all the dirty shenanigans they get up to will need to be navigated almost entirely without divine guidance. If only Clegane knew, it would probably make him feel a whole lot better. Oh, well.

It’s one of those things. I didn’t even know it was going to happen until I’d written it, and then I was like: “Ahh… ! Yes! That’s how it works!” And then I kind of laughed evilly… but, you know, away from the ordinary muses. Lest they suspect anything.

Chapter 6:

Ah, a little exploring, and a little friction, both good and not so good. It was to be expected, though. What they're building is delicate, and delicacy isn't something any of them excel at, is it? But I have great faith the next chapter will see them sorting it out a bit. Of course Tormund would have no way of knowing about Brienne's past...

And off to indulge in more wonderfulness!

Thank you, again!

I know I’m kind of knocking these chapters out, and I’m not poring over them for days at a time, debating word choices, sorting out my sentence fragments and such. I’m a bad writer at times. But I’m happy to writing something at the moment to be honest – anything, really. One of the things I love, though, is character. Go with character, and the story will follow most of the time. I don’t just want to write porn with the names changed. I want to write Clegane, Brienne and Tormund. I want to write the silly bits that apply to them in particular. I want to write the bits that other people don’t usually write, the bits that happen to real people, that happen to rest of the human race. I want these characters to be real, at least for as long as I’m looking at the page with them on. I want them to be human. I want them to exist. And then I want them to have it off with each other while I chronicle it. I hope, however fast and obsessively I crank the chapters out, that comes across.

Your reviews always make me feel like I’ve succeeded at that. Thank you.

Chapter 7:

Massage... yum...

It's brilliant how Tormund knew exactly the right way to show Brienne his words were never meant to hurt. She knew it, on the surface, but he made her see it deep inside, where it matters, and I quite enjoyed how he managed to do the same for Clegane as well. And it's so in keeping with Tormund, too, so perfectly like him. He's far more astute than he ever lets on, that one.

Brienne seemed to hint at some darker things, too, as if she had been led on, and then made to believe the ensuing rejection was her doing, her clumsiness, her fault. Well,, at least that's how I read it, and if so, I wonder if she will tell her lovers this. I'll have to read on...

(And I will confess I'm enjoying having all these chapters to read at once. It's utterly delicious!)

Thank you! :bounce:

I really wanted this to work. Tormund wouldn’t let that pass – not at all. I see him as very astute as well. He sees a lot, and says very little about it. When it matters, I think he’s very capable of sorting out a great deal of trouble. And not just by ‘being good at killing people’ though he is quite good at that as well, clearly. It’s not Jon Snow who rescues the wildlings from the white walkers, really… it’s Tormund. He is the one who really convinces them. After that, convincing both Brienne and Clegane that the opinions of a bunch of dickheads are worth precisely nothing… piece of cake.

As for Brienne, I watched and rewatched that scene where she confessed what happened at that ball to Pod, when she told him what Renly did, and she’s lived a lot of her life since then. I feel like even though she felt as though Renly saved her from it, he didn’t challenge it enough, and it would have set in her psyche. You can hear it in her when she speaks: “… and I knew then that I was...” *sighs* Poor Brienne. All this time, every snicker, every jeer. Just imagine. She’s hardened herself to it, sure. But only by believing in it and making a conscious decision not to care, if that makes sense. By breaking that belief, she’s being made vulnerable, and that’s frightening for her. It means that not only can they hurt her, but the world outside can too. I’m not sure how this will play out further down the line, if at all. Time will tell, I suppose. It depends how well they build up her confidence in those particulars. For the record, I personally think Brienne is beautiful, and I so would. Although, sadly, I suspect that like Clegane, she’d kill me soon as look at me. Oh, woe... *giggles*

I’m really glad you’re still enjoying it, even the massive chapter dump. I’m afraid they are going to slow soon. I’m coming up to another one of those fight scenes. They’re outside right now – practising, with an astonishing relaxed, sexually satisfied Brienne.

They’re lucky right now, I suppose. Just wait until they’re out there facing sexually frustrated Brienne. I don’t think they have a clue what’s going to hit them when that arrives. *gulps*

Chapter 8:

::fans self::

I'm just going to borrow Tormund and Clegane for a bit, if you don't mind. Well, maybe for more than a bit... That was amazingly delicious, and perfectly done. I think Brienne now has a far better idea of what she can expect, and really, I'm quite jealous!

As scrumptious as the smut was, the morning was even better, I will admit. This bond of theirs hasn't changed who any of them are, nor has it turned them into a perfect trio. It would be jarring if it had, so waking up struck the exact right note for me. And Brienne finding it in her to tease them? Absolutely perfect, and just as right, since we've seen her wry humor peek out from time to time, long before this.

My only regret is not having anything more to read... yet! ::hugs fiercely:: You are bloody marvelous, and one of the best storytellers I've ever known.

Thank you so much! :D

Yeah, I think they fulfilled their objective. She won’t be forgetting that night in a hurry. But there’s lots more for them all to do, and lots for her to learn. While all this is going on, I’ll be subtly advancing the plot. You might notice certain little bits here and there. Jon Snow might get a couple of little cameos of his own soon. Maybe even before Tyrion does. I’m afraid those bits might come off as sheer author manipulation on my part, but I’ll try my best to make them seem… plausible. But I want something in particular to happen. First, I want to really annoy Clegane, just because he’s hilarious when he’s fucked off. Then, I want to give him the best present he’s ever had in his entire life, and I don’t mean Brienne. I hope he’ll appreciate it. He’s already expressed a wish for it in canon. Well, tv canon at least.

Brienne teasing? Well, I think I had to let her, after the way they were both going on when they woke up. She thought it was hilarious, though somehow I don’t think they’ll fall for the same trick twice, so she’ll have to get quite creative if she wants to keep that up.

Thank you… you’ve literally made my day. I am walking on air here!

Next chapter: Before the fight scene, Clegane and Brienne eat breakfast to win. Seriously.

    Chapter 9:

Ah, make-up sex... nothing like it, is there? I really do admire Tormund's wanton disregard for his own life. That, and Clegane's technique with doors. And it works so nicely as a form of foreplay, too. :D

But would it seem silly to say I feel quite sorry for Podrick? Poor little bugger, between being replaced as his Lady's sparring partner and being bested by card cheats, he's not having a tremedous day, is he? I suspect the days won't get better for him, either. Perhaps he should hitch his star to Tyrion again. At least then he had all the harlots chasing him!

Thank you! :)

Well, not quite sex, but definitely the next best thing for Brienne. I’m sure she had lots of fun.

Regarding Tormund. I kept looking at it, and thinking to myself: But Tormund, you seem so intelligent, would you really go and do a thing like that just to provoke her? And the Tormund muse just kept nodding madly at me. So it went in. He’s just ever so slightly insane, that one.

Lol… Clegane and doors. I kept imagining him building that sept thing, and saying something along the lines of: “Look, just give me an axe and set me on the trees! I’m no fucking carpenter!” Also, fitting things into spaces that are really too small for them.. well that might come in handy for him soon.

Did I just say that? I’m very dirty lately. It’s having the two of them constantly running around in my head, thinking about it all the time. Oh, they want to, but they’re going to find themselves in trouble, so ha!

And lastly, to Podrick. Aww… well, for all that Clegane’s brief assessment of him was rather harsh, it’s also kind of true. But Brienne will help him out, in the morning. He might not exactly feel like she’s helping him, until it’s over. And she won’t help him out later in the story, when Arya gets to hear about his *ahem* talents and decides to drag him off somewhere... the life of a mouse can sometimes pay off. I’m sure it will for Podrick in time.

Chapter 10:

I think this chapter cuts so close to the bone, in so many ways. It's almost painfully honest, how Clegane faces all his fears, and all his desires in such a short span. Tormund is right: Brienne would not thank either of them for protecting her, and she's earned better than that from them. And what's growing between Tormund and Clegane is no less powerful a bond, based on respect. That's something Clegane's never had, and Tormund would not expect south of the Wall, but it's perhaps more potent than love. Still, Tormund is going to have far too much fun with his pair of virgins, isn't he?

Really a sublime chapter, and I think it's needed. It feels right.

Thank you! :)

I’m especially glad you like this chapter, since it’s my favourite so far, even though Brienne’s not actually in it. After I’d written it, I did think about the placement of it, but then I reasoned that there’s a whole lot to get through, in what is really such a short space of time (I’m thinking they have a few weeks, at best), and really, the issues in it for Clegane needed to be faced early on. There is a growning respect between them, and I’m glad of it for Clegane’s sake, since the way he usually gains respect is by fear, and Tormund is not afraid of him at all. It’s a new thing for him, and I think he’s quite enjoying it, really, having a friend in Tormund, as well as a lover in Brienne. Of course, I’m glad it looks like there will be bits of slash content here and there, but I’m still not sure if that will ever go all the way. From the tv canon, I do interpret Tormund as that experienced. I think to him sex is a lot more casual, kind of a means to an end at times. But I also think that as long as Brienne’s around, that’s where he wants his dick to be, so Clegane’s quite safe, lol.

As for the issues Clegane faces, I think here I came across a difference between the two of them. For all that Clegane is bitter and twisted, and for all of his encouragement of Arya when she was under his care, he’s part of a world where, deep down, a gentleman (if there is such a thing) doesn’t let a woman just walk into certain death. While Tormund… well. Tormund is from an entirely different world, really. Where men are men. Women are women. And small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri are… no, wait… sorry. He’s from a world where when trouble comes along, if a woman wants to pick up a weapon and walk into almost certain death, fighting, a man probably kind of looks on in sheer admiration for a few seconds before joining in wholeheartedly, hoping they’ll all make it out alive so they can have the chance to proposition her afterwards. It’s not that Clegane doesn’t respect Brienne, it’s that he does. He’s just a victim of his own culture, no matter how fucked up he is, somewhere it still has him in its grip. The more important she becomes to him, the more he’d to struggle with that, so in a way it’s good that Tormund has nipped it in the bud early.

    Chapter 11:

    ::applauds wildly::

Oh, Tormund, you mad bastard! If Clegane wasn't sure if he'd been bluffing, he's gotten his answer now, and in the most delightful way. Brienne is a most diligent student as well, and I'm fairly sure no one has ever made Clegane feel as throughly appreciated as she's done. And this line:

"He didn't know, but he did care, and he let her go as he came so as not to hurt her."

Right there, you've just made me adore Clegane. He doesn't have to know, but by all the gods, he does care. Lovely!

Thank you for this too, Bronx!

lol.. I don’t think Tormund could resist that little bit. I suspect Clegane’s dreams are going to be all Brienne, but with a bit of Tormund flavouring from now on ;)

As for her, I can’t help imagining that once she’d set her mind to achieving something, she’d just keep right on at it, no matter what. She’s very bright, and it won’t have escaped her attention that oral is a lot easier for them to give to her, but it also won’t have passed her by what a wonderful gift the previous night was. Especially since, despite the Tormund insanity in the morning, she’ll have been feeling pretty damn good about herself all day long.

Ah, yes… he is rather special, isn’t he? It’s one of the things I love about his character. Every now and again, just when you think you’ve got him down, he turns around and surprises the hell out of you in wonderful ways. I liked that it happened here too.

First review I have ever taken the time to write.

I don't actually have and constructive criticism to offer, mainly because I have zero criticism at all to offer. Your story is spot on sonfar, and the roles seem to be holding fairly true character. Please, keep up the excellent work. I have been very excited to see how fast this has been updated, and your posting speed is not affrcting the quality of writing asnone would normally see.

Two thumbs way, WAY up. Thankyou fornsharing your work

Hello, Isolden, and thank you for your review! :)

I’m so glad you’re enjoying it, and I’m so happy you feel it’s true to character. That the most important thing to me, so it feels great when someone says I got it right.

The posting speed may slow down a little during the weekends when I work, but I’m usually free in the week, and the characters just keep yammering away in my head, making me write their words down in odd places, so… seems like it might well continue for a while yet. And although I’ve had to go out this morning, it looks like there’ll be another one by the end of the day, because I’m already on nearly 2000 words of that one.

Again.. thank you!

You’ve hit the nail on the head as far as Clegane, I think. I can see him having that small remnant of what constitutes manners in Westeros, despite how much he loathes most of polite society (I harbor a suspicion he genuinely liked Arya and did not loathe Sansa). But among the wildlings, women are as fierce as the men, as Ygritte proved, and they take what they want just as easily, as Jon Snow learned.

Haha! Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it, Anon :)

Regarding this chapter, I was a little surprised by Tormund, but then on reflection, I think it’s right. He’s completely at ease with himself, he admits in canon he’s “good at killing people” and we see he’s actually quite violent when necessary. I think this fits very well for him, given the situation.

But, yes, it’s quite bloody indeed.

Chapter 12:

Lots of reading for me today, and I'll enjoy it all.

I love this chapter, if only for this line: “I can't take much more of this. I don't like being in a good mood. I don't know how to do it. I've had no practice at all.” It's just utterly perfect, and I can hear it, in his growl. I imagine Brienne was even more pleased with herself for that. But I did find myself nodding when he declined, the night before. He was right, and it was lovely to see him understand that.

And Tormund is wicked, just wicked. Such a tease!

Now, off to read more lovely things...

Thank you, Bronx! :)

lol… I was sure Clegane would decline, just as he did, and I was also sure Brienne wouldn’t be able to resist a little bit of “practice” of her own.. even while he was asleep. I think she’d have that kind of approach, to be honest. And, if she did give herself the go ahead, I think she’d have very few hang ups.

As for Tormund, he is wicked, but he’s also got an amazing scene coming up when things start coming together. I’m going to be writing that next. See… I don’t think he can actually have her without getting into some kind of ‘being married’ situtaiton, so I’ve got a little plan. And so has he. Good job he’s a lunatic. It’s a do it or die thing. And the last of Brienne’s defences will finally come down… really excited for writing this!

Chapter 13:

Podrick, poor lad. He is tougher than he looks, though, and truly, I can't imagine anyone not scared of facing the three of them.

Valyrian steel for Tormund, is it? He'll use it well, especially after that night he spent with Beric atop what wa sleft of the Wall. Jon Snow owes Tormund a greater debt than he would Clegane, so it does make sense to give the Tarly sword to Tormund for now.

But Clegane got me again: "What kills you is hope. Fucking hope." It's the sad truth, in their world. Hope is aluxury none of them can afford. They need to hold on to each day, and pray for a clean death, however unlikely that might be...

Thank you again! :)

Ah, but Podrick has now shown himself to be capable and courageous in front of the whole of Winterfell. There’ll be no more idiots causing trouble for him. Brienne is clever, and careful with her friends.

Hmm… Tormund for now. I’m afraid this is the first part of my author manipulation. Second part will be coming. But really, Jon Snow would see the three of them as amazingly useful, especially given the information he’s about to receive about himself, and how he might end up fighting in this war.

Chapter 14:

Ah, the bear story... gods, I hated the Boltons then with a passion. Brienne always was worth more than the bloody lot of them could ever dream, and all they saw was what their stunted greed showed them. And it was one of the few times I truly liked Jamie Lannister, too. His sense of honor has been seriously atrophied thanks to his bitch sister, but it manages to break free from time to time.

I did love how Clegane and Tormund wanted details, to hunt down any of the bastards who might still live. Really, they're yummy when being bloodthirsty. I imagine it would be the most delicious foreplay for them both, too.

And now the promise of fulfillment to warm their hearts while Brienne beats them senseless. How perfect! :D

Thank you so much!

I honestly found that scene bloody horrible to watch. Brienne deserves so much better, and I was so glad when Jaime rescued her.

I think at this point, anyone who threatens her would get a great deal of violence from the two of them. I can easily imagine her getting all pissed off at being interrupted though, lol.

Oh, I think she’d need to beat them down. She’s never going to lie back and think of Westeros, is she? Not even when she’s liking it

Chapter 15:

I must say, I really am enjoying this slow burn. Honestly, rushing this would be the biggest crime, and you make such a meal of each step forward in their journey. It's prefect, because I can hear each of them, see each of them, and it's entirely true to them all. That is probably the most delicious thing about this story. They are each, all three of them, themselves.

Brienne's courage in admitting her fears is simply superb, and so much in character for her. I loved how neither Clegane nor Tormund attempted to pretend to know how she'd feel. It's that level of respect they have for her as a warrior which makes her so much more desireable as a woman, isn't it?

Thank you :)

Honestly, I couldn’t rush these characters. If I tried, I’d completely lose them. She needs a lot of time, and he does too. Tormund, not so much, which is why he kind of took a back seat near the beginning of it all. He’s coming to the forefront more now, though. And especially as they begin in earnest. That surprise is on its way. I’m hoping it will appeal to Brienne’s romantic heart, and I think it will. She follows the seven, so she doesn’t need to take it so seriously, which will help. The getting there will be quite dramatic though.

Brienne’s fears… it seemed to me that she’d had the courage to do all these different things, talking about what came next would really be natural. And she demands to be taken seriously for them too. She not a girl, she’s a woman, and I think both Tormund and Clegane understand that quite well. They know she’s not silly. Having said that, I think they were both fairly alarmed too, and clueless, lol.

Oh, so close! Poor bastards, poor, poor bastards... Honestly, if anyone told me I'd feel sorry for Clegane or for Tormund, I'd have laughed at them. But I feel profoundly sorry for them, despite wondering how badly they'll get beaten come the morning.

Clegane is right, as ever, but dear gods, that poor bastard. :D

Thank you… :)

Oh… I kid you not, I didn’t know if I’d be able to do it. I’d known for a while I was going to try it, and I knew the reasoning, and the angle I was going to use, and I still though. Shit, no… the muse will kill me. But.. it happened. Poor bugger. But it fits! That’s the thing! When you think about Arya etc. It fits so well it has to be right. IMO anyway.. Poor sod.

    Chapter 17:

Oh, I spoke too soon in an earlier review! I have never been so tickled to see some of Lord Bolton's followers as I was in this chapter. And if anything, Clegane's kills were too nice and easy. I quite approve of Tormund's methods, however. Such a delightful weapon! He should give one to Clegane as a clan thing.

Now, do I think Brienne will approve? Possibly. Vicious as it was, it is still justice. Maybe not the kind you could talk about in a high sept, but still. Certainly no one at Winterfell would question that sort of justice.

The things the pair of them will do to please Brienne... :D

Thank you, Bronx! :)

I know I’m probably taking some liberties with the time framing of all this, but hell.. they deserve a treat after that. So I left one for them.

Haha… myself, I’m like, wow, bit of an overreaction there, guys! But, hey, I let them do what they want. Can’t complain if they do it.

I’m not sure about Brienne… from what we’ve seen, I don’t think it would be beyond the realm of possibility that she’d join in if she was there. I mean, remember the “Two quick deaths?” scene? She likes her justice.

And you are all caught up!

If you don’t mind, and when you have some time, let me know if you are happy to read through the next chapter for me. It’s the Tyrion one. Just now, I’ve let it happen in Clegane’s pov, because I think the reveal works better that way. But… I keep referring to it in my head as the Tyrion Monster, because it’s one of those that existed for a good week or two on my machine as plain dialogue like a script, and I’ve had to do all the shading in, and you’re never quite sure when you do that if it reads properly. :/

Thank you so much discord_the_lunatic! :)

I’m glad you’re enjoying it <3

There will be a delay in posting now until I return from my holidays. But I’ll come back with inspiration, I’m sure… I’m, like, going to stay in a castle! For one of the nights, anyway.

    Chapter 18:

Honestly, I am beginning to quite like Clegane. He was rather neatly handled by the wildling and the dwarf, wasn't he? But I do think he's right. He was meant to be the one all along, even if it means ending up battered and possibly maimed. I don't think Brienne will go as far as death, although Tyrion certainly courted it.

    Such a lovely story!

Thank you, Bronx! :)

And thank you for beta reading this chapter too.

Yep, and so Clegane is back at the beginning, only with a slightly angrier Brienne to contend with, lol. Got to admit, I do kind of like seeing him in a bad mood though. It suits him. Luckily, seems like Tormund is always going to be around to wind him up ;)

Chapter 19:

I'm just going to say I adore Brienne. Completely. No one else could ever make Clegane and Tormund jump to heel quite so firmly, and no one else could ever see them for who they are as well as she does. They really are hers, aren;t they?

I'd grumble about the cliffhanger, but I'm behind, so I have lots to enjoy yet. So, off to read some more!

Thank you again :)

Honestly, I’m amazed there aren’t more stories out there with the three of them in. I think they all match each other perfectly. But as far as I’ve been able to see, I have the only one *sighs*

I’m not sure if they’ll ever manage to completely overwhelm her, but they’re going to have a good go. Pretty soon, I think. Well, as far as I am at present, anyway. *g*
