If he dies during the war without producing an heir, there's a very good chance that the substantial Black Family fortune, including the Order of the Phoenix's base of operations in 12 Grimmauld Place, will be passed to the oldest male child of the Black family...which is Draco Malfoy. Since a male heir is preferable, but impossible to guarantee, Sirius cleans himself up, brews up a potion to ensure his sperm can endure any anti-pregnancy charms or potions witches may have protecting them, and sets about knocking up as many hot young witches as he can...all for the good of the wizarding world, of course. (Not that any of the witches realise what he's up, to until a sudden increase in the number of pregnant women in the Order comes to everyone's attention; easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission, in his book.)
