I think some kind of creature inheritance was involved as . The second story all I can remember its that the potters had twins and that Dumbledore talked lily into giving Harry away while James was gone on a mission. I know that once Harry was at Hogwarts and ended up in the hospital wing James told Lily he was going to divorce her.
