hyperlink issues

Recommended Posts

Lately, there has been an issue with adding links in posts. If the URL is short, it'll work fine. Longer URLs automatically default to visible ellipses in the middle if we type out the full URL instead of linking a phrase. That's normal.

Usually, what happens is that if you scroll over the abbreviated URL, the full URL will appear in the status bar, and linked text will lead you to a page without any issues because it'll re-direct to the full URL no matter how long it is.

That isn't the case right now. What happens is that if you scroll over a phrase, the status bar shows an address with ellipses in it. If you click a link, it won't work and the address that shows up in the bar is the abbreviated one rather than the full one.

I can manage to find the pages on my own after running a search, but I shouldn't have to do that every time, and neither should anyone else. Is there any way to fix the issue?

Not safe for the brain link

Pizza article

Irvine Mosque

I had provided the second link myself but it wouldn't work when I clicked on it.

On the other hand, all of the links seem to be working fine for me now, so the issue has resolved itself. huh.gif I haven't done anything to the browser or security programs to warrant any changes.

The first link is operational.

The second link is missing a two on the end of it.

The third link takes you to an intercept page, just like you have it linked. The proper link for that one was this one.

At this point I'm not seeing this issue that you are describing.

I've already mentioned in the second post that the issue seems to have resolved itself.

I'm going to put deliberate spaces in the URLs to avoid hyperlinking. The problem I was having before was something along these lines:

The link when typed out would read:

http:// justjared. buzznet. com/2007/06/28/sp...s-reunion-2007/

That's normal. BUT when you scrolled over it, the status bar would read:

http:// justjared. buzznet. com/2007/06/28/sp...s-reunion-2007/

instead of:

http:// justjared. buzznet. com/2007/06/28/spice-girls-reunion-2007/

and when you clicked the link, there'd be an error message because the address bar would contain:

http:// justjared. buzznet. com/2007/06/28/sp...s-reunion-2007/

instead of:

http:// justjared. buzznet. com/2007/06/28/spice-girls-reunion-2007/.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

It hasn't happened again but if it does I'll let you know. Meanwhile, I'll let the Twilight Zone theme play in my head.

Play on with the theme, it's one of my favorites. biggrin.gif

When it does happen again, let me know. I can't fix something if I can't play with it when it's broken.
