  1. I tried opening chapters in several old stories, and cannot replicate the issue. Have you tried a force refresh since all the changes, and deleted your browser cache?
  2. As with just about anything, this didn’t go as smoothly as it could have and should have, given that it’s an intracompany transfer, from Nexcess to LiquidWeb, their parent company. So, instead of finishing up by, say the 3rd, we finally finished this all up by the 19th. Having said all that, I have to say I am really excited about the change, and here’s why. SSL finally works as intended moving from Interworx to cPanel has made a huge difference. We can actually tailor PHP needs to different subdomains. For example, the forum needs 8.x, and has that version. The archive is on 7.x. Manta is working on bringing all of it up to 8.x The ability to use the later versions of both PHP and my SQL are necessary to be able to implement things that we could NOT in lesser versions. The hardware is worlds away from what we used to have. More powerful, and efficient. Much better physical virus protection Much better spam protection Mind you, Manta and I both tend to work a bunch IRL, so the SNAFU on the timeline really, really, put a wrench in things. BIG BIG thank you to Manta for carrying the load during this migration, as work, as it tends to do, wouldn’t let me have time off for much of anything. Go figure.
  3. With the server change, backfield software change, and other things, I can talk to the coder and see if we can actually implement across the mini database like that. I doubt it, but I can ask.
  4. The forum doesn’t have the option of saving a post as a draft, as that would cause unnecessary database loads.
  5. I take that back. You have to clear the cache of your browser. Not the cookies, just the browsing data itself. Then press ctrl+F5 (which is refresh). Mind you, for some reason the actual home page isn’t wanting to work, but you can go to each and every subdomain and it all loads and works.
  6. You may have to ctrl+refresh while the DNS updates and propagates
  7. There will be downtime at 2 am EDT on July 13th to replace part of the RAID array. Also, the migration is nearly done
  8. This has to do with our system migration. We are getting a better server. Migration should be done end of day today
  9. We will be upgrading our server hardware July 1st. There may be some down time involved while things are transferred from old to new.
  10. I’m not sure what CAUSED the outage, but it’s now fixed.  It looks like our ISP had to reboot the server after I opened a ticket

I managed to miss that outage. I was working on a spreadsheet, and then went out with the pup. I’m actually at my lake place now, and using my ancient and incredibly slow laptop, so I probably would have thought it was just my technology acting up again.

At least it was a quick resolution!

Apparently we had a failing hard drive.  it finished failing this morning while I was at work, but Nexcess, being the excellent provider they are, had it fixed very quickly

Well, if it’s like my recent internet outage, a squirrel did it.

  11. Apparently the code is not generating the reset link as it’s intended to.  So Manta is looking at that code snippet to see why, and to fix it.

Awesome! I know it sucks to have to use what little free time you get to poke AFF, but we all appreciate it immensely!

PHP is upgraded, and password glitch is fixed

      Thank you so much!

  12. The account was not activated after attempting updating. I’ve fixed that, so you just need to login with your gmail address and the password you created 5 days ago
  13. We are working on the password reset thing.  Now, as to the weirdness with the news, that was a corrupt table entry.  Both Manta and I were thrown by the exclamation point that displayed, as we thought it indicated code issues.  it was actually in the database, and is now fixed.

  14. Working on the next few weeks of schedules and hoping like hell I can manage an actual sane and normal schedule for me instead of 2 weeks on, 1 day off shit I’ve been doing.

      Crossing everything for you!

Good luck, not sure if I’d survive such a schedule myself.

  15. It’s actually as everyone was thinking, a benign place holder and easily fixed. Kind of a carryover from the very old stuff.
  16. manta is working on fixing the user names as we speak...
  17. I’m aware of that, as is our coder. i do believe it was a failed exploit, but, not sure yet. Still digging into this.
  18. Yes, i can restore pen names from a back up. However, I am working a series of splits, so don’t have a whole lot of time at the moment.
  19. So, work is still hell, still working entirely too much.  finally may have the email sorted out since I upgrade to Win 11

I wouldn’t fret, win 10 will be supported for most applications for years to come (like win 7 is).  The #1 reason I won’t be upgrading any time soon…heard they won’t let you use “local” accounts, thus I’d basically have to ask Microsoft for “permission” to use my computer, which isn’t how I like to roll.

keep yer fingers crossed that I finally get my damn store fully staffed, would you guys?  So, so tired of unpaid overtime because I’m salaried.

So, with the help of Nexcess, finally have the email thing sorted.  Didn’t think I’d EVER get that done!

  20. I’ll look in the db after I nap and come home from my second work shift today. Argh
  21. I’ll have to look in the db directly for you. If you tried to use the same password as the old one, you would have “blanked” the field entirely. Won’t know that until I look, though. Sometimes, the activation email won’t go through, especially if using any of the microsoft email domains.
  22. I FINALLY got the time to fix my computer issues, so I can access everything I haven’t been able to for a few months.  Now to get work under control, and I’ll be golden!

  23. Okay, I checked everything, and you still need to update the login to the current system. I’ve found the most common issue is to use a “/” instead of “-” for the birthdate. The database requires the format as listed and typed out. For example, my birthday is entered 1961-11-16. If I had entered it as 1961/11/16 it would not have allowed the update. Our coder made this very specific so that it protects your accounts. Yes, it can be a bit of a pain at times. If this doesn’t help, let me know, and I’ll let you know when I’m not working so we can hook up to get you going.
  24. Looks like I finally got around my browser issues.  Now to reset up email

      Congratulations! And Happy Thanksgiving!

  25. Aside from my working hell hours? nope. I haven’t had a chance to look, unfortunately. I will get to it though
