I’m not a fancy restaurant sort of person.  Firstly the prices are stupid.  Secondly, I feel out of place in them.  I don’t drink alcohol or coffee, but I do enjoy a good hot chocolate.  And I really don’t give a toss how fancy the food looks, only what it tastes like.  It’s all going to look the same the next day anyway.

I don’t care for restaurants where the food is pretentious, precious, or both. Now, I am a complete foodie, and I did work in restaurants when I was young (and spent my free time watching the chefs and asking questions), and I appreciate creativity and flair, but it needs to taste as wonderful as it looks, and I don’t want to leave a restaurant and feel like I need to stop for a slice of pizza on the way home because I’m still quite hungry.
And nothing beats a good pizza place, especially one of those little neighborhood places.

I suppose that if you eat out that you go somewhere where you enjoy the food and the company, if you’re able.  I don’t mind “fancy” or gourmet (though my wallet sometime resents it,) but I try to avoid places where the chef goes “crazy-stupid” with the ingredients.  If the food’s good, I’ll also happily eat at a “family restaurant” or a fast-food joint.
For pizza, I’ll try to go to an actual pizza restaurant if possible, unless the “other” restaurant has a reputation for serving a very good pizza.

Me?  I’d rather friends be around the BBQ grilling up round bits of Jessie for cheeseburgers.

Fancy?   I’m eating at a table, right?  

I don’t mind fancy restaurants for a big event, or for a get-together with people I haven't seen in ages, but I’m much happier at local places and diners, to be honest. As long as the food is good, I’m going to enjoy myself even if the ice cream didn’t come from certified organic milk brought to me by a cow named Jessie, with a bit of gold leaf on top so I won’t mind paying $100 for that scoop.  

My body refuses to store iron now – ferritin iron – and they’re trying to work out why, so they put that thing down and did some biopsies from different locations.  I know they found at least one polyp but I’ll get the results of it all some point later.  Just as an FYI, my haemoglobin levels are just fine, only my ferritin iron levels, which are single digit.  My throat is getting better, but my jaw aches and it hurts to open my mouth.  That’s due to me biting down on the thing they put in my mouth to keep my mouth open, biting down very hard for some while.

Drugs are your friend, at least in these situations! lol

With rare exceptions, when sedation is offered, it’s like Yogi Berra’s fork in the road.  You take it.

Hopefully I’m never cursed by one of these procedures, but now I know to opt for the sedation.

Luckily I had to google that one up.  Yeah, doesn’t seem in the “fun” category unless you’re into advanced BDSM.

I’m going to hope that this was simply one of those “Oh, you’ve reached a certain age” procedures, and not anything more serious!  

I hope you get to recovering soon.  I’ve had one gastroscopy.  Since they were doing it to put a stint into my bile duct, I was knocked completely out for it.  I can’t imagine having to have one without sedation of any kind, or having to drive home afterwards..

Hopefully, they can identify the cause and get you on the mend quickly!  
And I can empathize with the biting down very hard = achy jaw thing. It’s brutal, but a bit of warmth helps for me. (Tea!)

Both the lizard and millipede fought hard for their lives, but they didn’t reckon with someone as stubborn as me.  And millipedes that large do not go down easy, let me tell you!  If it could have given me the finger, it would have.
