Well, for me, I love to imagine things. I don't know how I generated my ideas. They just surface whenever I try to think of something to write. Of course, there are times when I'm lost as to what to write about. Still...

Plot generates the quality of a story. You can have characters having sex every single sentence, but I'd doubt the whole story will make any sense or even fun for that matter.

Sure. I have many experiences of that. But this is a good thing to have, because you'd know that you've improved in your writing. I've actually read through one of my original fictions that I've written years ago. It was so nasty that I deleted the whole thing afterward.
