Well, I have finished the chapter, and it’s still off. I’ve read the entire work, and it’s still off. I’ve tinkered with some things about it, and it’s still off.
There’s nothing else for it.
I have to throw it all away and go back to the drawing board *sighs*
So disappointed in myself right now, because there’s so many things coming up that are partly written, and things coming up that I can’t wait to write. I don’t know why this is being difficult at all.
I just can’t figure it out.
-
Maybe just hold off on scrapping it till some people read it; perhaps an objective reader can point out what is 'off' and suggest a fix?
I definitely wish you luck- I have a ridiculous amount of WIPs cause they went sideways on me.

It is 33 F out there, with wind chills making it feel like it’s in the 20s. That’s 0, with wind chills of -5 C…

I feel you, @BronxWench 15*F here right now. And our furnace likes to shut itself off. Stay warm!

I am back from my travels. I wasn’t sure we’d get off at all, since my mother had a gallstone attack (requiring an ambulance and hospital admission in the hours before we were due to set off), but happily they eventually gave her the all clear. Do NOT get me started on my aunt, who swanned off to the pub while I went in the ambulance, despite the fact that it was quite serious at that point. And we weren’t even packed. So when we were home, I got zero sleep. But… I got there, and I got to see some good dancers, listened to some great singers, and I got dressed up as a pirate for Whitby Abbey to see a shortish play based on Dracula, and lots of people took pictures of me, which means I probably did it right (or alternatively, very wrong). Internet evidence to the contrary should be kept to yourselves, please. I visited some castles. I stared at the sea, in the rain, in the hours before dawn, because I’m kind of weird like that, and because I hadn’t even had chance to look at the sea all week until that last morning when it was raining. But mostly because I’m a smoker, and it was either stare at the sea or just stand about outside the hotel looking at the wet road. I chose the sea.
I might be back at work on Monday. I really can’t recall if booked the day off. I’ll need to find out before then.

Bleach yaoi: Which guys do you find the hottest/most interesting? Who do you ship?
My faves are Renji, Byakuya, Shuuhei, Kenpachi, Grimmjow...so much hotness in that show
SpoilerWho do you like to top? I happen to be a switch fan; I like them to take turns. I’d say my preference would be RenBya, as opposed to ByaRen. I like Ren getting a chance at his captain lol
In your fave couples, who do you like in what roles? -

@Desiderius Price That makes sense, too. But it does sound like this isn’t the only time the aunt has forsaken the family. Maybe there’s been a lot of other stuff going on before this? I know from experience there can be tiny day-to-day things that are inconsequential by themselves, but that can add up to show that someone just doesn’t fit in your life.

Damn, sorry to hear that, @pippychick I’ve had my share of screwed up family politics. You do so much for someone and get squat. Give and give and give and they ‘bite the hand that feeds’, so to say....I could rant about this
Suffice it to say, I totally get where you’re coming from. Family isn’t always defined by blood. Definitely wish you luck in navigating the toxicity of the atrocious aunt. It would make more sense if her pub-flight was a one-time incident of poor judgement, but it sounds like this is more of an ongoing thing. My deepest sympathies, pippychick.

Hello!
Yeah, the fandoms don’t seem very active at all; I think my story is the most recent thing in Bleach yaoi for at least a couple years. I’m hoping to rekindle it a little *fingers crossed*
I love some original stuff. I have a tiny collection lol I love Crimson Spell but only have 2 volumes. Gentleman’s Agreement between a Rabbit and Wolf was my first. I’m sorry to hear you had to throw a bunch out I understand- I recently moved from Arkansas to Michigan with only what fit in my car and aunt’s truck. At the time, it didn’t feel like a big deal cause I was also reeling from divorce. But now it’s like ‘where’s my stuff?’
I’ve heard of Saiyuki, but never watched it. What’s it about?
Oh and thank you for replying
Yaoi United! lol

Just a question or 2, since the forums (as well as posting in AFF) are new to me; been a member forever but just started getting reinvolved.
Sorry if these sound like total noob questions...they kinda are lolOk, in AFF, what is a Dragon Print?
On here (forum) what is the Rank for? What dictates that? What can I do to change that? (was married almost 10 years- I am so NOT a virgin *giggles*)
I think reputation is based on how many posts/replies you’ve made, is that right?
Goodness, I sound like such a noob! But alas, without answers to unknowns, I shall remain as such. Most stuff, I’m figuring out on my own, but these questions keep me up at night lol

I think a break is order. I’m trying to force this story and it is just not working
-
Me too; I’ve got a ridiculous amount of notebooks full of stories, but across all fan sites, I only have 4 specific stories of my own posted yet. I have a collaborative work in progress as well.
Ahh Tolkien. Nice. Love Middle Earth, fascinating. Though my writing centers on anime lol
I admire when authors keep characters IC, but I’m known for writing them OOC (at least I make sure they have a reason )
I agree- I make sure I’m not unintentionally pulling off other stories. If there’s something I wanna pull, I always ask author.Hehehe I have gotten creative with my erotic scenes. I write yaoi/slash and finally found me a bisexual guy that I can ask about m/m relations.
Don’t worry, secrets are safe except it’s written on your update
Hmm, that does sound like an issue. Sorry I don’t have much help for that I’m not much of a suspense writer, and though I love LotR I haven’t read any fics for that fandom.
But I sincerely hope you either think of a way, or find someone who can help.-

Good advice here. It’s been my experience that trying to force a story can result in crap lol
Definitely take the muse(s)/plot bunnies to another story, new or another WIP of yours, or take a break from writing to read fics. Sometimes, reading good fics from the fandom I’m working on can get my creative juices flowing. Going through reviews you’ve gotten for your story can help, too.
As someone who’s run into So. Many. Walls. I wholeheartedly wish you the best of luck, and hope you’re able to progress soon
