I’ve never had an urge to explore rain forests anywhere on the planet, and it’s things like this plant which reaffirm my decision.

Darkalley_Muse reacted to GeorgeGlass in I've asked myself this a lot when writing: does the length of a chapter matter?
DP’s response is right on the money. I would add that a chapter should finish at a place that feels like a natural break in the story but that also whets the reader’s appetite for more. So the length of the chapter ought to be determined, in part, by how long it takes to reach such a point.

It both does and doesn’t matter.  In the end, it down to how much you wish to convey in a chapter to make your point.  Onthe pragmatic, a really long chapter takes longer for the reader, and details might clutter; but a really short chapter might not have the depth you’re desiring (and readers constantly having to click for the next one).  For each of my stories, I’ve got numbers in my head, a range, that if I’m too low or too high, I evaluate what I’m trying to do with the chapter, then decide to cut/add material, or merge/split chapters.  More often, its on the high side and I’m splitting chapters.

-_-; I’m so glad to be on Ubuntu… I do not miss those virus filled days lurking the dark parts of the internet (well, not that dark) on a scrapped together computer running windows.

The ones we need, the smart ones, know better than to get involved.  It’d likely go better if we just made it like jury duty.

We haven’t had much of a choice is a very long time. I think we need to start looking at the people who DON’T want the job, and promise them, if they are elected, that if they do a good job, we’ll let them go after one term.

My corgi lass is home, and I’m so happy to have her back with us. The neurologist is fairly confident it was a dosage adjustment that’s needed, so we’ll see. In the meantime, I have my furbaby back.
