Honestly, I'm jealous as hell of her. The same applies to me as to Bronx. If I thought I could alter a fanfic and make any amount of money, I'd do it too. Having said that, it's probably a good job I can't. The world isn't ready for that. I haven't read it either, but then it's Twilight, which to me already seems like a poorly written fanfic. I think I watched the first Twilight film once. I was horrified. And not in a good way. I'm amazed the television surviv...

Now, if I was feeling mischievous, had the extra time and inclination to do so, I could be tempted to write a story about a plagiarist and use the tag [plagiarist] on it….

Des is right, though. Plagiarism is one of the things we really do take seriously, and we do take a bit of pride in our reputation for dealing quickly with any plagiarism reported to us.

And sadly, people who hold themselves out as qualified to run nations are the worse offenders. It's downright terrifying.

No problem. I just had to remove the whole picture, because I couldn’t figure out how to crop it myself. But as I said, you are welcome to upload the image again, as long as you crop out the sexual images. Or, if you prefer, you can provide a link to the original image, as long as you tag it as NSFW. 

It both does and doesn’t matter.  In the end, it down to how much you wish to convey in a chapter to make your point.  Onthe pragmatic, a really long chapter takes longer for the reader, and details might clutter; but a really short chapter might not have the depth you’re desiring (and readers constantly having to click for the next one).  For each of my stories, I’ve got numbers in my head, a range, that if I’m too low or too high, I evaluate what I’m trying to do with the chapter, then decide to cut/add material, or merge/split chapters.  More often, its on the high side and I’m splitting chapters.

DP’s response is right on the money. I would add that a chapter should finish at a place that feels like a natural break in the story but that also whets the reader’s appetite for more. So the length of the chapter ought to be determined, in part, by how long it takes to reach such a point.

Is that really an unpopular opinion? I tried watching that show once and found it painful.

My brother and sister can't get enough of it and most reviews I've read praised the show. So, yeah it's a pretty unpopular opinion; I'm just glad I'm not the only one who hates the show.

I've never been big on shows that are largely about dumping on certain characters. Was never a fan of Roseanne, either.

There’d certainly be some ebb and flow to traffic; heck, people might suddenly find it blocked at work.   However, I haven’t posted anything new here in a little while (except for halloween), so I can’t state if its up or down.  I do know my potter fic on another site has garnered 4.7k hits in about two months.

I can attest to things being a bit slower around AFF, but we tend to see ebbs and flows. We’ll see a lot more activity over the holidays, when people have more time off and find themselves inspired.

Some domains are still pretty hectic. I got like 6000 hits on that not entirely serious Naruto oneshot in less than a month. My average is closer to 6 hits. And two of those are probably mods checking to see if a) Anybody’s getting disembowelled and b) it’s covered with the violence tags.

There’s definite waves of activity though around when college kids especially have less workloads on.

While a parody wouldn’t be original so it can’t go into the round robin, you could write one in the appropriate archive.

Seriously? I have the impression the porn industry tries to keep up with the demands of the costumers. As in harder and harder, nastier and nastier. More anal sex, more deepthroating, more gangbangs and such... Variety and high art isn't what people are looking for.

Not myself but I've given plenty and had people come up to me and bitch about it after getting their papers back. My advice is to go to the professor/TA/GA and politely ask them what you did wrong so you don't screw up again. Chances are you either misunderstood the assignment entirely,or plagiarized, Those are the only two instances I've given Fs, Ds are for papers that are just largely incoherent.
