  1. North Yorkshire council have voted to allow fracking, despite 4000+ local residents against, compared to 36 for. Sad day. Watch the UK become a real time Easter Island now. :(

      BronxWench

What are they thinking? How can the council go against the mandate of the community they represent? And for such a dangerous practice as fracking?

  2. So today my dog got nettle rash and came up in massive lumps. I took him straight to the vet, who gave him an injection. Good. Until it's ten past ten and the lumps are reappearing, and there is no vet until morning :( *worries*

If it's allergies children's Benadryl can ease the symptoms. Happened to my dog after we discovered her basil allergy.

Also consider giving the dog a bath to wash off the contaminant.

Thanks, guys :) In the end, all I had in the house was Claritin, so I gave him a tiny bit of that, and he could sleep. Going back to the vet this morning.

  3. Off to hospital again in the morning... let's hope they do the right thing this time. I feel defeated already. *sighs*

And the receptionist kept asking my date of birth, since she thought she'd misheard. I "don't look old enough" :D

That is wonderful news, love! I'm so glad to hear it! :D

  4. Happy Birthday to JayDee and Melrick! Hope you have a great year ahead! :)

Thanks too! I don't often notice the birthdays thing :)

  5. So I spent a large chunk of yesterday in A&E. I'm not sure what I did to deserve this. No painkillers... really? *feels sorry for self*

I never got to see them. I can't blame the A&E doctor, but I wish he hadn't had to hurt me. Never mind, I will use the resultant emotions in fic. Always a silver lining *g*

I hope you're better soon. Any kind've bad health issue sucks.

  6. I do like giving myself a challenge. Halfway through a chapter, i now have to write a story within a story (again). This was easier to do with de Sade than it is with Tolkien.

It's when you get half way through and then there's a story within the story within the story. And then again, until you've gone down seven levels and someone is telling the original story.

    3. pippychick

      pippychick

Ha... I'm fine right here on the second level. That's lust. We need go no further than that. ;)

  7. So while I was at work this morning, we had a delivery of an all weather 3 piece suite for the garden. "Shall I assemble it?" the man asked my mother. "No! My daughter will do it!" replied my mother happily. *groans*

At least all that "Tab A into Slot B" will help with porn!

Going on the participants in my porn lately, if I open the box to find a load of wicker, and badly pictured instructions for how to weave rattan, I'll be seriously pissed.

No, no, it's kindling for the fireplace, love. Think of it as a lovely way to warm up in all the rain.

  8. Who asked for elf torture? I am writing it, and finding there are not enough words for regret in the entirety of the English language. Sorry. There's one. Poor Maglor.

    1. BronxWench

      BronxWench

Poor Maglor indeed. I take it Sauron finally behaved, after his own fashion?

    2. pippychick

      pippychick

You know... he gave me a vision I really felt awful about putting into words. Once I gave in, it seemed to go ok, lol

  9. Goodbye, IDS... Go off and be obscure. I bloody well outlived your time as Work and Pensions Secretary! Yes, I did! Lots of us didn't. :(

He was. But I can't help thinking now: "Out of the frying pan..." *sighs*

    3. BronxWench

      BronxWench

Sadly, that's often the case. Look at the mess we call politics. I say we dump them all in the ocean and start over.

    4. pippychick

      pippychick

The ocean is probably where they came from... good plan! :)

  10. The muse has gone very quiet over the last couple of days. This does not please me at all. :( Nor does it please any of the elves. *shakes it* Wake up!

  11. After hardly any sleep over the past two nights, I am falling asleep at my desk. Snow is falling thick and fast outside. In March! But, after a few hours kip, I will have quite a bit of Gimli/Legolas to write. I love these two! *giggles*

    1. BronxWench

      BronxWench

      Oh, I can't wait! :D

    2. pippychick

      pippychick

I swore I wasn't going to do any research for this fic at all, and yet... I must be insane. But they deserve it doing right. Or, as right as I can get it.

  12. I hate hospital appointments, especially when they put me off writing seriously kinky Dom!Elrond/Thranduil and fun!Elrond/Legolas... not to mention Celeborn/Elrond. I think Celeborn might be using some kind of spell. He talks like a poet... *sighs* Ok... *growls* Hospital! :(

    1. BronxWench

      BronxWench

::pets:: But all the other patients will be wondering why you have such a lovely smile... :D

    2. pippychick

      pippychick

I must say, knowing you have elves to play with afterwards tends to lessen the stress of hospital a bit :)

  13. What I love about writing fanfiction: that moment when canon events all slot into place perfectly, and you know no one has ever told it the way you intend to. *is happy*

Celebrían [opens the door to admit V]: Elrond! My dear, why are you wearing that ridiculous mask?

    4. pippychick

      pippychick

Elrond [leans back against the closed door, breathing heavily]: A ship came in. There are three of them now! And Legolas brought a dwarf!

  14. Well, that was good! And now, back to writing Elrond & Co again. *swaps contact lenses to glasses*

    1. BronxWench

      BronxWench

Ah, glad the show was good! :D

    2. pippychick

      pippychick

It was brilliant, and my brain got at least two hours off the muse going on with: "Hey, you! Write more! Write faster! Write this, look!" Don't know where it's all coming from.

  15. Yay! My ticket has come. I am off to see "Waiting for Godot" at the theatre on Saturday night. I love Beckett. :)

*giggles* I swear you are completely wasted on a world like this.

  16. I just found an old bit of political satire I wrote. Rick Legg on the Terry de Lyle show for a DNA test to prove he's human. You probably need to be from the UK to get that. *giggles to self*

  17. Royal mail really are completely and utterly useless. How can something spend longer in the local depot that it took for it to move across Europe?!

That's simple. Paperwork, it was invented by bureaucrats to make everyone's lives needlessly harder.

  18. I seem to have got the bug. I know because I have all my Elrond research out. I *know* there are other things I should writing... I blame the muse.

I take that back. I had to go and look, didn't I? Funny how you don't remember bad things properly. Bugger. *shudders*

lol@Jaydee.. DPAC will never surrender! We'll storm parliament again. Very nearly managed it last time ;)

  23. Left wing socialist looking like he might win leadership outright with a landslide 53%, w/o need for 2nd prefs. Best news ever! Come on, Mr. Corbyn!

Got to say, I'm also liking all I hear about Bernie Sanders for those of you in the US.

  25. I'm starting to find Jeremy Corbyn just a little bit hot, maybe because he's a hero.

His closest competition is John McDonnell, who said: "I would swim through vomit to vote against this bill." Impressive.
