Alright, now that I have a moment, let me talk a bit here!
Well then I think you nailed it. 😁  There’s something I can’t quite describe about the stories, something you can feel about the world of the Hyborian Age, and I got that same feeling from your story.
And he actually led with that one!  I don’t think he started shit-talking her husbands until after mentioning that he strangled her baby in the womb.  That does make me wonder about his goal there.  It felt like he was deliberately antagonizing Berta, but I can’t see what that was supposed to accomplish...aside from being the world’s most epic suicide, I suppose.
Sorry 😅, I was bad at wording it there.  I meant I spent a while trying to work out if it took place in actual Medieval Europe, rather than a fictional equivalent.
Aha, so it was a bit of surprise to the author as well as the reader!  Writing is kind of an interesting process like that, both creation and discovery, in a way.
 
Apologies for that bit.  I actually went back and forth about whether to even put it in the review, as I didn’t want it to sound like I didn’t enjoy the story.  Maybe he just didn’t seem that bad compared to other spouses I’ve read in stories like this; I don’t know.  I don’t think you did anything wrong as a writer, I promise.

Well, doing NaNoWriMo is slowing my smut writing down a bit, but it definitely hasn't stopped. So my next smut-goal is to finish drafting chapter 3 of "Red All Over" and get it off to beta.

The Ultimate
Yeah, it’s meant to be medieval fantasy. And I had a little fun with the world building.
Speaking of which, after that it's a pretty hot sex scene.  I'm not generally into anthro stuff, but the Ursans are human-like enough, and generally the story doesn't focus too much on their nonhuman traits (aside from mentions of their muzzles during kissing), so it didn't bother me.
It took me a while to figure out what the creatures beyond the portal would actually be, such that I was well into writing the story by the time I made up my mind. So those details were added in later.
He is a bit neglectful, in the sense that he has been prioritizing his responsibilities so much that Merri isn’t getting a very big share of his attention or energy.
I had in my mind, but didn’t really put on the page, that in this world spouses are held to a slightly higher standard in terms of marital attention because marriages are time-limited.

I’m going to do it sort of half-assed and try to finish—or at least make serious progress on—the novel I started with NaNo 6 years ago. I’ve finally finished the one I started after that (in 2020), so it’s time to get back to this one.

It is unfortunately way too late at night for me to post another review or respond to Invidia, but I will get to it tomorrow.

It’s been a few years since I dove in and drove myself to the point of insanity trying to cobble together 50,000 semi-coherent words, but I’m hoping it’s the kick in the pants I need to get back to writing regularly. Wish me luck, and don’t get between me and my Keurig for the next 30 days.

Well yes but I guess I’m trying to figure out what counts as thinking like a human or an animal. I’ve seen examples of animals becoming more human or entirely like but only speak in simple terms.

For instance, one example I saw in a different fandom than what I’m writing for now, had a rabbit turned into a human completely. However, they still thought like humans. The reasons they were changed is because they wanted to “do it like bunnies”. Which the rabbit turned human did with a human woman.

Thank you! As I’ve done in a few other stories, I’m trying to capitalize on what I’ve so often heard about dom/sub relationships: that by and large, it’s really the sub who is in control. Nicole chooses to be subject to humiliation and force because it turns her on.

I think what @BronxWench was getting at was that the important thing is whether the creature THINKS like a human or an animal. That is, if it has an animal level of intelligence, that’s what makes the sex act bestiality, because the creature isn’t smart enough to give informed consent for sex. (BW, correct me if I’m wrong.)

Chapter 3 of “Developed” is off to beta. Now I am focusing primarily on finishing my Halloween story, “The Ultimate.” It’s a medieval (or maybe pre-medieval) fantasy about two women who go into the woods on “The Eve” for some fun they couldn’t have any other night of the year.
FYI, I'm planning to do NaNoWriMo this year, which means that I'll be slowing down on my smut writing during November. But I will at least work on my in-progress stories—“Master Plan,” “Red All Over,” and “Developed”—during that time. 
Before November, I’m hoping to finish “The Big Brothers Club.” This will be a long, round-robin, rather rapey one-shot furry story about a group of teenage boys who bring their younger siblings to their “clubhouse” on Friday nights to be used by the other teens.  Even thought it’s a single story, I’ve been writing it in 4 separate documents because it was hard to keep the 4 plot threads straight in my head when I had them in 1 document. I’m using this same approach with my Glitch Techs story “Retro,” which will also be a long, round-robin one-shot.
