So, it’s been a rough few days. My mom is in hospital with congestive heart failure, exacerbated by COPD, atrial fibrillation, and Parkinson’s. It’s been one step forward and two steps back for the past 4 days, but at least I’m allowed to see her for a couple of hours each day.
So, if I’m a bit more absent, or crankier than usual, I apologize in advance. -
17104, not as good a day, butu I usually have a three or four day cycle during Nano.
I kind of miss the widgets, it takes too many clicks to check on a writing buddy’s progress and compete...

Usual slow start for NaNo: blaming insurance stonewalling, politics, and agencies’ incompetence! 5779 (1k behind) they don’t seem to have the widgits anymore

The very happiest of birthdays (very nearly belatedly!) to @DemonGoddess Wishing you nothing but good things (and some time off)!

almost caught up for NaNo…
I reall hate Nano dumped my buddies list. These are people I contact through their boards only and have no other way. the Nano site has lost almost all value if we cannot trust them not to dumps our friends links...
-
Sadly, their value added doesn’t apply in August for me. I just don’t have contact info for most I was nano buddies with. Friend lists are the big thing for social sites and it’s not worth the effort to redo it if they don’t care. Can yu imagine the real social sites dropping friends lists and thinking they could keep their audience?
I got a story featured in a halloween podcast. my 1st contract…
Sorry you aren’t having time to write. The new systen does facilitate other projects, combining the camps better. You can also set different goals too/ I really need to set a month aside to work on revising my originals. I found my short/flash stories lean strongly to horror and longer happier. Maybe you should try flash as that gives faster results and easier to fit in busy schedule. I usually fit one in in twodays.
I’m yet another Dean of WIPs. My fanfic is all Star Wars, I’m doing the final chapter of a 4 chapter, and have a handful in medium length plus my usual big story blocking nearing the end. I’m in a short writing class, but the required prompts aren’t reall grabbing me. I really wish this teacher would STOP starting classes during NaNo.
this is my free time after midnight so i read and game. I hope to collect all my ideas if i can’t sleep. too. sleep well!

My mind just boggled when the tags for the first chapter of a mashup story elsewhere was seven hundred words longer than the chapter.
LSS, I decided not to read it as there were dozens of chars and worlds I don’t know nuttin about. The big mashups I’ve tried don’t give enough background and the more famous ones are ooc enough I begin to feel they were included more like clickbait. I already have five stories pending to read for a while, no more.

It was AO3, but stories that are long with large casts in all fairness need more than a handful. I know now I would tag my Choices1 very differently. My current big story has nearly ten viewpoint characters, and they go through all kinds of physical and moral crap.
You know me, I don’t wallow on the physical pain but the moral and strategic when bad stuff happens. How does one deal with the painful crossroads or morality and battlefield tactics, and the emotional aftermaths? What happens when your lover really cannot forgive something done to save lives and shorten a battle? (in this case abandonment and lots of angst)

Nothing starts your day off much better than a warm and fuzzy review of a story that has been out for a while and that the reader gets the core concept...
-
I already review almost every story I read. The only ones I don’t, are the abusive and/or creepy OOC ones. My profiles on sites and many chapter notes I include pay it forward requests for people to review all the stories they like. A fair percent of my days I spend more time doing reviews than writing my own. It ’s a good/bad habit.

The anthology I’m in came out a couple weeks before I got notice. So I’m trying to come up with a clever way to do a post about it… and design my Xmas cards. Is ‘Kiln People’ a thing yet?
-
Kiln People was an award winning SF book about 15 years ago. The idea is that everyone can make insta-clones of themselves of various qualities. High quality can write a paper for work, medium can clean your closets, and low quality can mow your yard, all graded like porcelin or something. Of course, shenanigans ensue.

Yeesh, I got sucked in by a special offer betty crocker sent me… how could that be bad? She’s a wonderful baker!
It was for a free 11oz custom mug from shutterfly. My cost was S&H, which was like 10$. I made the mug with my four favorite book cover images I made.
The shutterfly app said the imaages weren’t detailed enough. but they didn’t tell me the WxH so I could reduce the full image to boost the pixel density but forced clipping. But I still like it: The covers for 3 fanfics and placegolder from an original from an earlier NaNo. As I was finalizing I could rotate and look inside the mug, but the image on the recept was more crude. We’ll have to see how it turned out. If I had more credit, I’d order a few more and send as a ‘so there’ gift.

Post NaNo reboot in progress… defragmenting. reallocating hours… writer.exe update in progress...
-
I took yesterday totally off. Tonight I’m going to split the massive workfile into the various stories. The original novel just required a slower process than NaNo and I hope to resume it for my class later this week. There’s three shorts and two chapters of my big story. And some journal babbling on random topics that will be allocated somewhere. A lot of mine is good, its just RL consequences after Mom’s ulcer final end Friday morning… that was my prime writing time other years but not available this time. Next year I will title my project “Angst, Adventure, and other Tales..”

The NaNo enthusiasm is there but writing is just NOT flowing this year.
-
my original novel project has been officially dumped for NaNo. It’s too slow and the new method is too mindful for a nano sprint. I’m going to have to pick and choose from my class. Scene planning like the class, makes me feel like a straight jacket.
I’m gonna see if I can finish my main fanfic project. I probably won’t as I have 6 chapters to go and the wordage will be more than can be done in 19 days.
But tonight I could not resist a diversiin and did a NWN2 sequel scene that links into an oddity the Tuesday MMO release. It’s not much of a plot but something my plot director has nabbed as a clue for a new release...

It is a really bad sign when your NaNo crashes and burns on day1. I was using a new (to me) technique that has been stifling my muse.
A total rewrite is just depressing even if it’s only one day.

So sleepy, but waiting for agency call back on vile slander...
-
This wasn’t a social worker but an aide, basically unskilled. as any nursing certs could get another job and she clearly doesn’t have a calling. The other agency (supervisor and aide) vouched against the slander as did the other aide from the same agency. So there was only the slanderer and the agency that believed someone who decided she did want to be blamed for no call no show 3 days. (we’re leaving the agency after sunday night’s shift if I can find out what I should do) That was after the 1st version they told their agency that they could not work over the weekend because they lost their phone and car not working- ALL WEEKEND, and none of their 4 teen+ kids had a phone or car to help. This fast passed to the county overview, where it would follow my family and home forever. It seems to have worked out, but it was a miserable 48 hours where I could not sleep, eat right, write or work on my writing class… The social worker didn’t act on the slander, did the footwork to expose the lie, she’s a peach.
I like mine hard boiled with a little salt. And in many splendid things like greek egg-lemon soup and french toast.
Thanks!

More is clear, but no less infuriating. It’s the health care equivalent of an accusation that I beat my children. You can’t really disprove it and it will cost you a lot of money and hassle to even go through the motions to remove a problem that doesn’t exist. MAJOR disruption with my health problems. And the accusation already spread to another agency. And it will haunt us unless we blow thousands we don’t have.
Bitch who made the accusation, did that after she was a no call no show over the weekend. (making us look worse as parting finger up) The agency started an end run around us without even telling us. Not even counting the health strain which is already hitting HARD, this will cost thousands to ‘disprove’ as the disprovers make bigger profits if they believe the accusation.
BTW I had a nurse-practicioner visit yesterday for an unrelated reason and saw NO sign of any issue. The worker making the accusation has no nursing degree. just spite it seems.
I wish I could sue. There isn’t enough penalties for slander like this. But the primary author is in a near minimum wage worker.
Stress went from normal everyday 2 to 10, and I do NOT need this as I was trying to prep for NaNo

So, I only made it to RenFair once this year, on the last bloody day, but it was wonderful!
