"Something Wild" - Lindsey Stirling & Andrew McMahon In the Wilderness
I’m not sure where I was first introduced to the musical style of Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness – was it “Rainy Girl,” maybe, or “Canyon Moon?” – but I’m falling for it harder every day. I’m rarely brought to tears by contemporary music with vocals but AMitW is, so far, a frequent exception. I never would have associated something as intense as “Something Wild” with Disney had I not heard it myself in Pete’s Dragon. ...and cried. ...like a baby.
Good grief.   My eyes are burning, my skin’s buzzing, and my heart’s a gooey, fluttery mess. This...this is beautiful and it hits all my frisson-triggers in just the right order. If y'all haven't heard anything by this artist, please, for the love of all that's good and bright in this world, fix that starting by playing this video and listening.

Who says nothing good ever happens to me? I’ve been invited to take part in an ancient local midwinter ritual to ensure the sun returns next year! The only downside is nobody wants to make plans for anything past the ritual date now, and apparantly I’ll have to lie on some cold stone for a bit.

A lady by the username of Maidenhair, who used to be a regular on here years ago, has sadly passed away.  She was a funny, selfless person who was always willing to help others.  56 is way too young.  RIP Linda.

I have completed the NaNoWriMo challenge!  50k words written in The Target, which still isn’t completed!  Hurrah!  Woo!

Managed to write 400 words today for the first time in ages. And worked in two of those week 210 straight from Hell prompts with an idea on using the last still. This is nothing for y’all NaNoWriMo folks or even just regular folks, but it felt good to me! Now just gotta finish, and polish.

All right, this one my phone didn't learn from me: When I typed "friends with," its first suggestion was "benefits."
Okay, yes, that was actually what I was going to type, but that's beside the point.

There’s something to be said for writing a sex scene and suddenly get waylaid cause you don’t know the growing season for olive trees.

I’d like to salute the folks here who are doing NaNo this year. I’m still trying to finish the novel I started two NaNos ago, but I hope to be back in it with a new novel next year.

Saw someone complain that women characters only ever get written to the Virgin, Mother or Whore archtypes. It’s a fair point about poor characterisation and representation in a lot of media. I am glad to see I avoided that by managing Virgin, Mother, Whore and Lupa.
