Access to the database itself is strictly controlled. Only DemonGoddess and manta2g have direct access. My moderating staff is exceedingly small, and doesn’t have the limited abilities that I have as lead moderator. I’ve met most of them in person, and I am entirely sure that none of my moderators are responsible for this series of attacks. Further, I myself run Malwarebytes Premium daily on my computer, and take every precaution when I have occasion to visit other sites in the course of my moderating duties. I know it’s easy to point a finger at human beings, and wonder if they are the proximate cause of the issues, but in this case, you’re way off base.
The idea of using immoral means to achieve what a person believes is a moral end is neither improbable or unheard of, in my experience. Hypocrisy is as much a common human trait as any other, and the same people who email me demanding that I remove a story they dislike would scream the loudest if I removed a story they did like. It’s naïve to think otherwise.

The archive is back in read-only mode at the moment. Our attacker has been quite persistent, and our coder and tech admin are working as quickly as possible to close off all vulnerabilities so we can once again operate normally. Unfortunately, our coder has had to use back-up data to restore the archive even in the read-only mode, which may be why the new chapter is lost despite your having gotten reviews on the story.
Bear with us, please. Our coder and admin are working on this as fast as they can, given the time constraints of their actual employment and other obligations. 

Anybody considered talking to the feds on this hacker?  This hacker is suppressing *OUR* free speech rights, and it’s technically a federal crime.
(Sorry, had to vent here, cause it’s frustrating especially to the authors unable to post, unable to get feedback on what they posted.)

It will depend on what kind of documentation we can put together, but I’d be more than happy to deal with IC3 and their endless bureaucracy. I’m used to Federal agencies and paperwork.

I’m actually getting data together to find the times and other things.  But, the question here, is if we do that, does that open us up to possible closure due to the nature of the content?

AFAICT, the content here is legal, even if it’s of dubious quality/morals, and would thus be protected by the first amendment.  I don’t know if we have any agents amongst us willing to take up the cause.
I guess I’m frustrated, because this hacker appears determined to hijack our website for their own dubious means, and it’s mean/rude and denies us the ability to post/publish/review.  While Manta’s doing her level best to overhaul/patch, we’re not Google or Microsoft or Facebook with an army of coders, so I fear this cycle may repeat itself, ad nauseum.

Argh. Maybe we need to enlist that fellow on YouTube who hacks phone spammers…

I’m certain that’s not ours so please keep blocking. Manta, our coder, mentioned last night that there had been another attack on the site so please be careful and watch out for updates from Manta and DemonGoddess. I’m tagging @manta2g so she’ll definitely see this post.

Absolutely block that address.  I’m hoping the deep dive I’m about to take into site data is helpful.  We shall see.

(Edit, now that I’ve got the time to respond more fully): in regards to the question, what you should know…  
- We have excellent FAQs for most things regarding both Forum and Archive in the “Please Read” section of the main forum
- If you have a question that you can’t find the answer to, we are more than happy to help in the “General Staff Questions” forum
- Pointy things are to be left at the entrance, in the closet, where staff can steal it and tell you you never brought it in to begin with
- and we do tend to encourage drinking (virtual or IRL is up to you), often heavily… 
- oh, and we usually don’t bite… unless asked to… if we do without being asked, there are probably spray bottles randomly around the place to get the biter to stop… 
- and finally, (just to quote the motto of the only heavy metal music festival that my country hosts) don’t be an ass,  
- otherwise, we’re fairly normal around here… I think.

The Archives are still Read Only for the most part, so there have been no updates on any stories for the past couple of weeks. The only parts of the Archives that are out of Read Only are the ones that appear with green in the designs/layout, but I don’t think any of the Archives have reached the point of new stories or updates to stories being uploaded. Manta, our coder, will let us know when the Archives are back up fully and fully functional. Until then, we unfortunately have to wait patiently.

Not all areas of the Archives are up and running yet, so you’ll have to be patient with us, but I do think that when all the archives are up again, you’ll have to log in to your accounts, then hit the drop down menu on the left hand side, and click on Archives, and then you’ll get a list of all of the Archives, and to the right of the name of each archive there will be a green thingy (four little squares, I think) that you click to get your Control Panel up, and from there you will be able to post stories. 
Desi, you can maybe answer this better than I can… I’m tired, it’s past my bedtime, and I’m off to sleep… see you all tomorrow.

You’ll likely have to wait.  AFF suffered an attack last month and it was locked into read-only access.  Manta, the coder, is doing her level best to rewrite the code so it won’t be vulnerable to that sort of attack, but this isn’t a fast process.  Some parts of the archive are available as features are finished, green was the hint.

@Desiderius Price  we really appreciate all the help we can get, and since I’m about as tech-savvy as a brick, it’s really lovely to have someone who knows what Manta is talking about to answer questions when the girls aren’t around. So, thank you very much. 

@WillowDarkling While I don’t know the details of this website’s code, I did try my hand at PHP & SQL & Web ages ago, so that’s enough to handle the more generic questions, relieve Manta of that extra burden.  I can also try barking at those not leaving her the space needed to get it done?

Update! Story display is now in the new code, and you can now from within a story one click add a story to your current reading or recommended reading. You can also now delete current reading or recommended reading stories from your profile.

It is slowly creeping back to life.    I don’t have a definite eta, but I’ve been on a roll of releasing sections every few days. Today, stories along with the ability to manage recommendation and current reading just rolled out. Next is reviews, and then the story manager (Authors have been waiting on this one).
