Oh JayDee, talk dirty to me =p
Your particular brand of chaos is quite enjoyable so I’ll leave it to your wild card imagination.

Considering she hunts the dregs of society. She’d probably have the possibility to earn a boon. She is a required part of the ecosystem.  Now I got it in my head they should definitely meet.

Darling, that’s the fun part of being a writer! See it in your mind’s eye, and then describe what you see:
“The gnarled bark of the tree’s trunk formed a series of steps leading upward into the branches, and there, hidden among the green leaves and growing apples was a house. Small and somehow invitingly cozy, it looked like the sort of place everyone’s favorite grandmother might live, if she lived in a tree, of course. The windows were open, and a hint of cinnamon teased the senses, invoking the warmth of apple pie and spiced tea.”
You don’t need to measure it out in feet, or meters. Let the reader use their own imagination, and just give them the general shape of it.

Special seedlings would work as you’ve laid it out.
Now, for an elder elven sage, looking for a tree with some potential arcane/occult significance…
Oaks were sacred to the druids, and were linked with lightning, since oaks can survive lightning strikes and thrive. Hawthorn were also considered to be sacred trees, as were ash trees. In parts of Ireland, even today, people won’t cut the branches of a hawthorn for fear of offending the fairy folk. Ash trees were associated with healing, and ash was used for staffs/wands.
Here’s a wiki article on Celtic traditions for sacred trees:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_sacred_trees

The Tolkien Ents were sentient trees, so I doubt they would be used for houses. However, they were able to act as shepherds of a sort for the old forests. Now, if you had a sort of guardian tree race, they could direct the growth of the non-sentient (but still very much alive) trees to shape them as houses for your elves.
(Ettins are D&D lore—two-headed giants with severely bad tempers.   )

And taking the nature spirit further you could say that Cody felt the call of nature from Yua.
    ...sorry.
Definitely worked. Does he spend much time hugging her in spider form?
Healthy relationship really. Folks have issues develop and work through them.
Always get to learn something new with one of your stories!
Can always be an echo of canon/partly canon anyway, like The Least I Can Do before the timeskip!

I swear I wasn’t stealing your dialogue from the future!   No, in all seriousness, the characters are different (a jorōgumo and a death god) but they share in that same bittersweet experience of loving someone you know you’ll outlive.  That line of dialogue in particular is one I’ll be using in The Spider House, which is to be the formal introduction of Yua and Cody and how they became a couple.  It’s what I’ll be working on after I finish the last chapter of WitS.
Duncan and Yua would get along. Well at least until she figures out his ties to the underworld. Though I do see a funny moment when and if she ever asks his age and he tells her he’s 299,317 years older than her. Haha.
That bittersweetness is related to why he incarnates and changes names.

Social Distancing is a story written for @kagome26isawsome’s prompt concerning COVID-19.  Basically, she proposed that some of us write stories about how our characters would be dealing with the pandemic.  Since Elis and Lady Aldreda live in a medieval fantasy world and The Woman in the Statue is set in the future, that left Yua and Cody.  Since jorōgumo like Yua can’t get sick (at least in my version of things; it’s possible yōkai may fall ill in myths I haven’t read), the only one at risk would be her human mate, Cody.  Now, at first, I was going to make this a fun/hot story where Yua shows the boy exactly how much fun it can be to be trapped inside the house with a woman who’s got seduction down to an art and has 683 years of experience...but then things changed.  I can’t explain exactly why, but it started getting more serious, focusing on what it means to be an immortal in a relationship with a human.
And thus we come to our first review from @InvidiaRed!
Yeah, the idea was that she isn’t smotheringly possessive all the time, but that the disease has made her even more protective of Cody than she normally is.  I do enjoy writing Yua because of the inhuman aspect of the character.  Luzurial is inhuman, but only in the technical sense, since her morality is essentially the same as ours.  Yua is a giant spider that can look like a beautiful woman when she wants to, and as such her perspective is very different.

Alright @InvidiaRed, @JayDee and @kagome26isawsome, I’ve finally posted my story!  It took way longer than a 2,700 word story should have (sorry about that) but it is up.

If it is bad, you’re in good company.  Around Halloween, I had a lengthy conversation with InvidiaRed over insect mouthparts due to a throwaway line in his story, and just yesterday I made an author on another site blink by explaining how much research I had to do to figure out if you could use water to hide from something that sees infrared.
    *notices everyone else staring*
It’s more complicated than it seems, okay?  The infrared spectrum is huge!

Review for Pandemic Head, written for @kagome26isawsome covid-19 challenge!
Thank you for your review! Sapient fleshlight would make a brilliant title for a story, or name for a band. I think the Dutch Wife Fairy created a literal one back in the old Sexylosers webcomic!
Yes, things did not go the way Cadence planned with that particular summoning, though anybody who read my story A Big Girl’s Bad End wouldn’t feel entirely sorry for her.
    Thanks again!

Talking a lot of sense there about the hoarding, that it shall pass, and the inadvisability of killing the critters during that last plague.
Seemed a bit of a dick move to scare his husband though.
Logan did ask and now he has to live with that knowledge of that particular name and incarnation. He was advised not to ask for another. Duncan can be a proponent of tough love and is unapologetic in that regard. Very much be careful of what you wish for because you might just get it.
. Duncan revealed two names this story. One of Irish mythology and one norse. And both provide an interesting backdrop to the lore.
