  1. So, how many out there cried when the last manga release was shoved out? I sure did. Anyway, discussion time! Alucard's personality is rather chaotic at best, despite indicators and explanations within the text which highlights certain traits. My main question for you, regarding a story I have stagnating over in Hellsing Crossovers (and another that I am working on over at ff.net), is thus: Do you believe Alucard to be capable of human-like sympathy, remorse, love, or 'fuzzy feelings'? If so, why do you think such, and in what case was it implied within the mangas? Also, What way do you believe he would most express such emotions (ie, does he show these emotions at all; To what degree; In what situation; Under what pretense)? If not, what do you believe the scope of his personality to be. What types of emotion do you feel him capable of having? Further: How do you think Alucard would deal with a situation where he were presented with an emotionally, physically, and mentally scarred adult. This being that, the individual is still very much strong and willful, but perhaps have their moments of physical/mental/emotional 'weakness' against their own will. To that, on a separate but similar vein, how do you think Alucard would deal with a Child exhibiting those same traits. These keeping in line with how he would react, based on the personality given within the manga.
  2. *look of intense concentration, creepy stare* So, you like Crossovers, huh. Well, let's here 'em. I want gritty details, your woes, your passions, and your story names or wish-lists. I would have thought that this section of this forum would be jam packed with topics. This makes me sad. Discuss. They don't even have to be AFF specific. Though, as the topic subtext suggestion, no Twilight crossover discussion. No offense to Twilight fans, but I can't stand that movie/book and it genuinely ruins my enjoyment of a discussion when it's brought up. Everything else is fair game. So far, Harry Potter is my base 'crack' for crossovers. I just can't seem to write one without Harry being the main center of it all. I think it's because there are just so many different options and possibilities involved. The HP world is so vast and so established, it gives a very solid foundation for expansion and tie-ins. Character depth and personality also can't be denied, if you're writing a crossover without it being AU. Some crossovers that I have written, am writing, or took a crack at but failed, have involved: Lord of the Rings Lost Boys Hellsing Supernatural X-Men Charlie Bone Dark Tower (Stephen King) Dresden Files Air Gear Warcraft Dead Like Me Chronicles of Riddick/Pitch Black Of that long list, only three or four are actually posted, with two or three being hiatus'ed to death in my Documents. The ones that are posted are on fanfiction.net under Black-Raven3, though two may be getting moved here once they progress further. I'd really love to hear some other peoples crossover ideas, and give others a chance to advertise their Harry Potter based crossover work, or just generally discuss Harry Potter crossovers. What makes you so interested in crossing fandoms with Harry Potter? What points do you always go for in such crossovers (For example, I can't write a crossover without there being slash, Harry being an animagus, and character development)? Do you prefer your crossovers to be epic in length, or simple drabbles or one-shots? Let me hear your thoughts!
  3. Long-dead post is long dead, but looks to be semi-temporarily resurrected. But I can't help commenting, as most people are want to do when they're bored and sleepless at 6am. I completely understand that right now a Review Reply feature is not possible. To perhaps take stress? Off our lovely Divinities, perhaps I could offer a suggestion for fellow authors who may not have previously thought of such or thought it appealing? Currently, I find it extremely difficult to believe that anyone using this site does not have an active email address, or instant messenger service. I saw that the topic of email responses was brought up once or twice in the older comments, but not really built on all so much. While this option by no means aids in lessening ones effort to not have to navigate multiple windows or tabs, it does hold merit, if you're like me and despise spamming innocent readers with walls of Authors Notes text every chapter. On my stories at least, I notice a trend of reviewers leaving their email addresses behind, in case I want to respond, or asking that I contact them when I update a story, or simply to chat them up if I'm so inclined. I have taken to informing readers within the very first authors note of the story, that they should send their reviews to the contact locations I have listed on my profile (MSN messenger/email in this case) if they want a response. This takes pressure off me if they use the site Review feature, and off of reviewers if they genuinely want a reply to their comments. Fearing spam or Flames is a genuine concern when using such a method, but that's why I thank the Internet Gods that you can have multiple email addresses and IM accounts. If you don't wish for your primary email to be flooded with reviews or spam, it's quite easy to create a different account solely and specifically for such a thing. Hopefully this helps a bit. It's not the ideal or viable solution for everyone, but it works until the Archives would not be in danger of going *boom* if a feature were implemented.
  4. Actually, I tend to believe Rowling only announced Dumbledore's gayness as a means of boosting sales after the end of the series. It had no bearing in the main story plot, so there was really no reason to come back (what was it, six-seven months?) after book 7 came out, just to tell everyone that a dead character was in fact homosexual. Either that or she was getting flack from certain groups about not having any homosexual characters. Or, again, she wanted to boost sales and saw how popular slash fanfiction was. Personally I love slash, can't write a story without it, but if she ever came out with a slash tie-in to the Harry Potter books, I wouldn't read it. Not unless I heard smashing reviews and knew what the pairings were. She would seem way too desperate to me if she ever did something like that. I'm actually rather curious if she'll try anything with the Bard book(s).
  5. What if Castiel had been on Earth for longer than he let on to Dean? What if it was his mission to watch out for select individuals that are of interest to the forces of heaven? What if Harry Potter were one of Castiel's charges? This challenge/request can take place along any time-line or Alternate path, just so long as Castiel is watching out for Harry and Dean both; and so long as Harry meets the Winchesters and hunts with them. SLASH CONTENT is a must!!! Dean/Harry, Dean/Castiel, or Harry/Castiel. It's up to you, just so long as it's there. Bonus points if you can bring John back in a convincing manner (Such as the Trickster stepping in, or a Demon bringing him back to mess with the brothers). And Extra EXTRA points if you have Bobby yell at and dress-down an Angel that is higher ranking than Anna or Castiel. I'm already working on a response to my own challenge (this one) but I wanna see how others would put a spin on it! Main characters Required: Harry, Castiel, Dean, Sam Optional Characters Requested: John, Bobby, the Trickster Can be any rating and any writing style, with any plot within the confines of the one outlined above. I've been itching to read a story like this since I saw season 4, so please, surprise me and let me see what ya got.
