  1. Finding out you're pregnant and already halfway done with a bare minimum of signs, despite suspicions and at home tests saying negative. It's surprising how much I take after my mother in the odd things - strange allergies, talking to animals and children like there's no doubt they'll understand me, pregnancy with very few signs and the baby tending to lay near my back....

Well, I won't say there's not a certain amount of irony in the timeline here, but all in all, it could have been much worse. So far, I'm pretty happy. Husband freaked out for a bit - "OH GOD, the things we'll have to buy!" - but I stopped him cold on that and pointed out just how many people would be giving us stuff for the baby. (And it turns out I underestimated the number, which surprised me.)

He's happy, too, although we both wanted to smack his mom and grandma for thinking we weren't happy about it. We're very pragmatic and tend to take things as they come, and for some reason they thought the lack of giddy enthusiasm meant we were unhappy about it. Sitting there thinking, "Gee, didn't know our every emotion had to be visible." I thought they'd at least appreciate the relative lack of hormonal pregnant mood swings, but....

Meanwhile, we're both concerned by the imminent spoiling. There are already four boys in this generation; this will be the first girl. Okay, might actually still be twins, considering the half-assed ultrasound, but I still have to have an echo done to check for heart murmurs (runs in the family), and twins often hide from ultrasounds anyway. *shrug* Twins is actually what most of us were at least half expecting me to end up with, so.... Not that it'll lessen the love for a single chil...

  2. Mom's breaded garlic chicken recipe: smash hit the night before Thanksgiving. No one else was thinking about dinner, so it's a good thing I made 3 pans.

Also, his grandmother gets up in the middle of the night and eats the breaded garlic chicken as a snack. Figured I'd better make a lot just to be safe. As it was, I think only seven pieces got put up, so we basically ate 2 of 3 cookie sheets worth of "midnight snacks"....

  3. Some days I wish I wasn't such a "light" sleeper. By which I mean I wish I could sleep better without darkness, as night shifts and long hours wear on anyone after a while.

  4. Turns out singer Matt Kennon's Facebook page has some neat motivational pics.

  5. I keep finding some of the strangest yet most awesome crossovers....

  6. Merry Christmas, everyone!

  7. Wondering whether to make Mom's potato soup or breaded garlic chicken....

      Ooohhh, potato soup....

XD My mother's potato soup is so thick that I tend to warn people, "It could probably be called potato gravy." But it's one of two potato soup recipes that my man likes, at all; the other is his grandmother's, but I don't have that recipe.

The garlic chicken, on the other hand, is breaded with crushed saltine crackers instead of boxed bread crumbs, which makes it softer and seems to spread the flavor better.

      Decisions, decisions.

  8. Finally done with the most tense meal I have had in...well, it actually has been more than a year.

  9. The joys of being floored by a difficult period....

Sometimes I wish for menstrual pains. It'd be nice to have a little warning, you know?

I don't always get warnings, but usually I get warnings anywhere from 2 days in advance...to a week ahead of time. It's irritating.

Once, it was two weeks ahead, because my period was a week late. THAT was irritating.

Mostly I just ache like hell for a day or two beforehand and then really suffer for the first 24-72 hours. It varies.

  10. I come up with dangerous ideas when I'm tired....

Shh!! Don't give self ideas! *shifty look*

Besides, Self was talking about the almost-get-killed kind of stupidity. Though I agree, there are entirely too many idiots trying to run this country.

      GeorgeGlass

The only reason why idiots run the country is that smart people know better than to try. :)

Absolutely! It's like herding cats; only stupid people really WANT to!

  11. The monthly prompts.... They ambush me....

  12. I do not dream of Jeanie; apparently I dream of PMS, cleaning bathrooms, jewelry and orange juice. WTH

I'll count my blessings the sheep weren't in the bathroom; the tub was filling. :P

That'd be a bit pathetic, electrocution by sheep in the bathtub. I wouldn't know whether to scoff or laugh.

  13. Writing the next chapter of TWKH; first scene: about 800 words. Second scene: 2k+

  14. Coolest assassin anime I've ever seen? Darker Than Black.

  15. Feel really bad now.... Was so out of it after Thanksgiving and a movie that we totally spaced belated Thanksgiving dinner with my mom....

  16. Yesterday was fun, but exhausting. I have been reminded once again of just how fond my family is of sharing our experiences. Also, my grandparents are still not very competent with phones.

  17. Happy Thanksgiving, all!

;) Glad to amuse you, BW. Do you need any stakes? I started sharpening them, only apparently I had too much wood lying around in the room. :P ;D

On a completely different note, my man is frustrated at the moment. ;)

His fault for being over-enthusiastic last night. ;D

  19. I have been away from writing entirely too long. But it's let some awesome ideas play about in my head and form their own spots in my stories.

  20. Trucking is tiring. But we've met some really interesting people.

    1. Cuzosu

      Cuzosu

Though I seem to have my family's habit of meeting really interesting people, anyway, but I'm seeing more and more of them.

  21. Got a trainer. Now for the trainer to get here and pick us up.

  22. The majority of truckers smoke. Thus the long delay it takes to find a non-smoking trainer.

  23. Cram school for trucking is miserable. Everybody gets sick, but you still have to cram.

Well, I'm starting to catch up on it. Key word is "starting," of course. I'm sitting at the hotel, waiting for my man to get his CDL. He'd have had it yesterday, except he isn't used to starting out in third gear so he didn't realize the gear shift wasn't all the way in and the truck stalled. Auto fail. XP

    4. Cuzosu

      Cuzosu

      Thanks, though.

  24. Sometimes I just want to howl at the moon in broad daylight.

  25. My mind comes up with strange things sometimes.... Has anyone else ever compared hats and condiments? They're both "things which go on top."
