Not a book, just a story I'd put up on the net, but I see where you're going with this. I wouldn't say it's a negative light. It's simply the main character's side job.

I have an idea for an original fic, but something about it irked me, so I decided to bring it up here before even starting to write. If I were to use a name of a real web community/service (I'm not entirely sure which one this falls into) in the story as the main character's primary source of relevant communication, would that get me into trouble? Would I need an additional disclaimer, or would I be better off inventing a name and describing a similar service? In particular, the web service is called Chaturbate, and the main characters would be one of the "performers", or however they prefer to call them.

Also, I forgot that the forum and archive logins weren't the same.

When a person familiar with the concept has to do research just to understand what you're writing, then it's too much. You need to be true to the material, but not so incredibly in depth that it looks more like a research paper than smut.

My mind incorrigibly corrupted from the trade channel in WoW, I didn't initially realize you were going for a pun. Poor grammar ruins sex scenes for me. Quite often I'll run into something along the lines of "And then she takes her bra off and started sucking her nipples making her scream jodie!" After recovering my eyesight, I have to abandon that fic, because there's no saving it.

Next time you're feeling bad about a lack of reviews, just think to yourself, "You know, in all likelihood, somebody masturbated to my story." You're welcome.

Was this very bad fanfiction of which you speak yaoi or a one shot (or a yaoi one shot) by any chance? I've noticed - and not just on AFF - that the general reaction to yaoi is disproportionate. A well written yuri or straight fic, on average, does not get the same mad frenzy of screaming fans that mediocre or even bad yaoi gets. And a one shot reader doesn't always have the attention span to read the whole thing, much less pay attention to the story. A lot of readers just scroll down until they see something resembling sex.

My favorite is from the rather bad English dub of Death Note. "I'll eat this potato chip!" I nearly suffocated when I first heard it.

Puppies, however, are just fine.

I personally consider myself lucky with my reviews. I have 12 reviews on my three world of warcraft stories, and 2 on a WIP dragon age origins story. None of them are one shots (though the WIP has only the first chapter up), and I place more value on reviews from people who actually follow my work. That is, my world of warcraft stories are actually a single ongoing series, and I've been lucky enough to have reviews who have read all of them. While 6k+ reads and 7 reviews may seem somewhat disproportionate (especially since one reader left multiple reviews), I'm just happy that anyone bothered at all.

I know it's probably not necessary to apologize. Those who follow my writing probably may not even read the forums anyway. But I'm of the opinion that I should be thankful for people taking the time to read my work, not that I'm doing anyone a favor by posting what I've written. Did I mention how great AFF is for giving me a place to post all my smut? That's kind of important.

I feel like I owe an apology and explanation to readers and people I was interacting with for dropping off the face of the earth. Just saying I was busy isn't going to cut it. You see, I'm bipolar. I've been having one hell of a time with it. It's gotten better since I've been more open about it, but it's still there. Sometimes I would have zero motivation to do anything at all, despite having the time and knowing I should. I'm not looking for a shoulder to cry on. I'm well past that stage. I just hope my absence can be forgiven so I can go back to writing about Nessa's exploits. Also, not really sure if this is the right place to post this. My apologies in advance.

Depends on the buildup. If it's to the point where someone would actually get bored reading it, it's too much. Too many useless details bog the story down. Unless your character has some sort of mental disorder, the method in which they select oranges at the supermarket probably isn't very relevant.

Usually one word alone really isn't enough to turn me off of the whole story, but 'vulva' really hits me the wrong way. It sounds medical, and not sexy at all. I'll take pussy over vulva any day.

Well, I began the first chapter. I have to say, it feels better to not have her kicking me in the shins for not writing about her. It does make me wonder if one or both works will suffer from having two ongoing stories though.

Honestly I'd like to see more yuri by people who can write. I hate to say it, but most of the good writers don't touch yuri. There are some that do, but they wont touch non-con yuri. I'd like to think I'm good, so that makes me the exception, but I'd like a little company. It's lonely here

This new character is really bugging me to write about her. I'm actually considering starting a chapter now, but my current story with Nessa is going to be my last in the series for a while. I'm not really sure if I should wait on it or not.
