  1. So I have a question for those of you with experience with publishers. I submitted to one back in early October. It said to expect a 12-16 week wait, and now it’s been well over 16 weeks, I haven’t got a response, so I’m moving on and looking through other publishers. My issue is that a lot of them don’t allow simultaneous submissions. Some specifically say to “wait for an answer” from previous submissions. Would you submit anyway, or would you try to pester the previous publisher for a definite rejection?

  2. Given that the 12-16 week period fell in the holiday season, I’d give them to the middle of March. At that point, I’d poke them for a decision.

  3. Just googled myself because reasons. And I discovered someone else has adopted the name CloverReef in the last year or so. I am outraged! I thought I was safe with that name! lol. To be fair, I get outraged when someone else has my real name too, and that one’s fairly common.

  5. Lame. Gotta go read these... (I said I was gonna submit, but business got in the way. Now I have to make it not-holiday themed, which actually might work better. It’ll happen, I swear)

    AFF Holiday Party!

I’d personally post ideas like that in the challenges forum, so people know where to find them when they need to. Whether or not it’s ‘alright’ is up to the forum mods, I imagine.

  9. Adaptation’s publication was put off due to conflicts with the pen names I had. After much consideration, I’ve considered a third. Alex Irving, where the ‘wordier’ books will be published like the Haven series (including Adaptation, the half-completed Foundation’s Promise and completed but unedited Wanderer, along with two or more unwritten books) Court of the Youngest Son, and an unpublished sci-fi story called Seed4. Possibly another whose working title is Cloud. All are m/m besides Cloud which appears to have no romance, smut, or the like, but it could do with this pen name’s style, I think.

  10. Hmm... Is it alright if I leave some slightly off-season holiday concepts? I've none for the holiday at hand, but a few which may be useful later... Or if you want a slightly late one.

  11. If it's more sci-fi Since genetic editing became common place. The modder scene grew hardcore. What nature had produced. People became obsessed with tweaking and improving. At first, it started simply with exotic eye and hair colors. Gradually turned to skin colors and exotic limbs. And after a few generations, it wasn’t enough. Entire genomes had to be resequenced and scrambled. Not just in themselves but in their pets. Their plants. Everything. Designer diseases, Outlandish symptoms and worse became fashionable. Nature had become obsolete and uncool.
